This European Standard specifies material and perfomance reqirements for table cutlery made of silver, other precious metals and their alloys (knives with stainless steel blades, forks, spoons, carving sets, ladles and other pieces). It does not include requirements for design, size, type of finish, blade flexibility, or similar characteristics which are matters of personal choice or which can be readily assessed by the purchaser at the point of sale. No sampling provisions are included in this standard, the requirements specified are applicable for each and every item produced.

Werkstoffe und Gegenstände in Kontakt mit Lebensmitteln -Schneidwaren und Tafelgeräte - Teil 7: Anforderungen für Eßbestecke aus Silber, anderen Edelmetallen und deren Legierungen (ISO 8442-7:2000)

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen an Werkstoffe und Gebrauchseigenschaften für Eßbestecke (Messer mit rostfreien Klingen, Gabeln, Löffel, Serviersets, Schöpflöffel und andere Servierbestecke) aus Silber, anderen Edelmetallen und deren Legierungen fest. Diese Norm beinhaltet keine Anforderungen an das Design, die Größe, die Art des Schliffs, die Beweglichkeit der Klinge oder ähnliche Eigenschaften, die eine Sache der persönlichen Wahl sind oder die durch den Käufer am Ort des Verkaufs sofort bewertet werden können.

La présente norme internationale prescrit les exigences afférentes aux matériaux constitutifs et aux performances de la coutellerie de table en argent massif, autres métaux précieux et leurs alliages (couteaux à lames en acier inoxydable, fourchettes, cuillers, ustensiles à découper, louches et autres articles).  Elle ne comprend aucune exigence relative à la conception, aux dimensions, au type de finition, à la souplesse de la lame, ou à toute autre caractéristique similaire liée à des critères de choix personnel, ou pouvant être facilement évaluée par l'acheteur sur le point de vente. Aucune disposition relative à l'échantillonnage n'est donnée dans la présente norme internationale et les exigences spécifiées s'appliquent à la totalité des articles produits.
