Extended application of test results for fire resistance and/or smoke control for door, shutter and openable window assemblies, including their elements of building hardware - Part 2: Fire resistance of hinged and pivoted steel doorsets
This European Standard covers single and double leaf, hinged and pivoted, steel based doorsets. It prescribes the methodology for extending the application of test results obtained from fire resistance test(s) conducted in accordance with EN 1634-1.
Subject to the completion of the appropriate test or tests, the extended application may cover all or some of the following examples:
- integrity (E), integrity/radiation (EW) or integrity/insulation (EI1 or EI2) classification;
- door leaf;
- ventilation grilles and/or louvres
- wall/ceiling fixed elements (frame/suspension system);
- glazing for door leaf, side, transom and flush over panels;
- items of building hardware;
- decorative finishes;
- intumescent, smoke, draught or acoustic seals;
- alternative supporting construction(s).

Dieses Dokument deckt ein- und zweiflügelige Drehflügeltüren aus Stahl ab. In diesem Dokument wird der Begriff „Tür“ verwendet, um sowohl die Türelemente als auch die aus verschiedenen Elementen bestehende Türeinheit abzudecken. Es schreibt die Methodologie zur Erweiterung der Anwendung von Ergebnissen der Prüfung(en) der Feuerwiderstandsfähigkeit nach EN 1634-1 vor.
In Abhängigkeit von der Durchführung der entsprechenden Prüfung oder Prüfungen kann der erweiterte Anwendungsbereich einige oder alle der nachstehend aufgeführten Beispiele abdecken:
— Klassifizierung von nicht wärmegedämmten Abschlüssen (E) sowie solchen mit Anforderungen an die Strahlung (EW) oder wärmegedämmten Abschlüssen (EI1 oder EI2);
— Türflügel;
— Seitenteile, Oberblenden und/oder Oberteile mit Kämpfern;
— Lüftungsgitter (Belüftungs-/Lufttransfergitter);
— an der Wand/Decke befestigte Elemente (Zarge/Aufhängungssysteme);
— Verglasungen für Türflügel, Seitenteile, Oberteile und obere Türblenden;
— Baubeschläge;
— dekorative Beschichtungen und/oder Schutzbeschichtungen;
— dämmschichtbildende Dichtungen und nicht dämmschichtbildende Dichtungen zur Behinderung von Rauchdurchtritt (Rauchschutzdichtungen, Durchzug oder Schallübertragung Schallschutzdichtungen);
— alternative Tragkonstruktion(en).
Dieses Dokument behandelt keine horizontalen Türen.
Die Auswirkung auf eine „C“-Klassifizierung für Türen im Rahmen eines erweiterten Anwendungsprozesses wird nicht in diesem Dokument behandelt.

Le présent document couvre les blocs-portes battants et pivotants en acier, à simple et à double vantail, à l’exception des blocs-portes en acier avec vantaux à ossature métallique couverts par l’EN 15269 5. Il prescrit la méthodologie permettant d’étendre l’application des résultats obtenus à partir d’un ou plusieurs essais de résistance au feu effectués conformément à l’EN 1634-1.
Sous réserve de la réalisation de l’essai ou des essais appropriés, l’application étendue peut couvrir tout ou partie des exemples suivants :
- classement de l’étanchéité au feu (E), de l’étanchéité au feu et aux rayonnements (EW) ou de l’étanchéité au feu et l’isolation thermique (EI1 ou EI2) ;
- vantail ;
- panneaux latéraux, impostes, panneaux supérieurs affleurants ;
- grilles d’aération (par exemple, grilles de ventilation/jalousies) ;
- composants (par exemple, dormant/système de suspension) fixés à la construction support (par exemple, mur/plafond) ;
- vitrage encastré dans le vantail (par exemple, panneaux latéraux, impostes et panneaux supérieurs affleurants) ;
- éléments de quincaillerie ;
- finitions décoratives et de protection ;
- bandes intumescentes, joints intumescents et non-intumescents (joints d’étanchéité à la fumée, joints d’étanchéité à l’air ou joints acoustiques) ;
- autre(s) construction(s) support.
Le présent document ne couvre pas les blocs-portes posés à l’horizontale (par exemple, les trappes).
L’effet sur le classement « C » des blocs-portes qui suivent un processus d’application étendu n’est pas traité dans le présent document.

1 Scope
This document covers single and double leaf, hinged and pivoted, steel based doorsets except steel
doorsets with metal framed door leaves covered by EN 15269-5. It prescribes the methodology for
extending the application of test results obtained from fire resistance test(s) conducted in accordance
with EN 1634-1.
Subject to the completion of the appropriate test or tests, the extended application may cover all or some
of the following examples:
— integrity (E), integrity and radiation (EW) or integrity and insulation (EI or EI ) classification;

— door leaf;
— side panels, transom panels, flush overpanels;
— air transfer grilles (e.g. ventilation grilles/louvres);
— components (e.g. frame/suspension system) fixed to the supporting construction (e.g. wall/ceiling);
— glazing within the doorset (e.g. for door leaf, side, transom and flush overpanels);
— items of building hardware;
— decorative and protective finishes;
— intumescent seals, strips and non-intumescent (smoke, draught or acoustic) seals;
— alternative supporting construction(s).
This document does not cover horizontally installed doorsets (e.g. traps).
The effect on the classification ‘C’ for the doorsets following an extended application process is not
addressed in this document.

4 Determination of the field of extended application
4.1 General
4.1.1 Before there can be any consideration for extended application, the doorset shall have been tested
in accordance with EN 1634-1 to achieve a test result which could generate a fire resistance classification
in accordance with EN 13501-2 at least equal to the fire resistance classification required
