The scope of this European Standard is:
- establish a working definition for switches and their constituent parts and identify the main types;
- specify the minimum requirements for the manufacture of the switches and/or constituent parts;
- specify codes of practice for inspection and tolerances of both full and half sets of switches and their constituent parts;
- establish the limits and scope of supply;
- list the methods by which switches and their parts should be identified and traced;
- list the different and varying ways by which switches can be described using the following parameters:
- geometry of the switches;
- types of construction;
- performance requirements;
- design criteria;
- tolerances and inspection.

Dieses Dokument:
— legt Fachbegriffe für Zungenvorrichtungen und ihre einzelnen Bauteile fest und benennt ihre Hauptteile;
— legt die Mindestanforderungen an die Herstellung der Zungenvorrichtungen und/oder einzelner Bauteile fest;
— legt Ausführungsbestimmungen für die Abnahme und Fertigungstoleranzen sowohl für halbe als auch für ganze Zungenvorrichtungen und ihrer einzelnen Bauteile fest;
— legt den Lieferumfang fest;
— listet Verfahren auf, nach denen Zungenvorrichtungen und ihre einzelnen Bauteile identifiziert und rückverfolgt werden sollten;
— listet die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten auf, nach denen Zungenvorrichtungen unter Verwendung der folgenden Parameter beschrieben werden können:
— Geometrie der Zungenvorrichtungen;
— Bauarten;
— Leistungsanforderungen;
— Konstruktionskriterien;
— Grenzabweichungen und Abnahme.

Področje uporabe tega evropskega standarda vključuje:
– vzpostavitev delovne definicije za kretniška menjala in njihove sestavne dele ter opredelitev glavnih vrst;
– določitev minimalnih zahtev za izdelavo kretniških menjal in/ali njihovih sestavnih delov;
– določitev pravil ravnanja v zvezi s pregledom ter toleranc tako celotnih kot polovičnih sklopov kretniških menjal in njihovih sestavnih delov;
– vzpostavitev omejitev in obsega dobave;
– navedbo metod, ki naj se uporabijo za opredelitev in sledenje kretniškim menjalom in njihovim delom;
– navedbo različnih načinov, s katerimi je mogoče opisati kretniška menjala z uporabo teh parametrov:
– geometrija kretniških menjal;
– vrste konstrukcije;
– zahteve glede zmogljivosti;
– merila za projektiranje;
– tolerance in pregled.
