General rules for application and presentation are given. In the context of this standard the purpose of item references is restricted to the identification of component parts of assemblies and/or the identification of individual items detailed in the same drawing.

Diese Internationale Norm legt allgemeine Regeln für die Anwendung und Ausführung von Positionsnummern in technischen Zeichnungen fest. Im Rahmen dieser Norm ist die Anwendung von Positionsnummern beschränkt auf die Kennzeichnung von zusammengesetzten Teilen von Gruppen und/oder die Kennzeichnung von Einzelteilen, die in derselben Zeichnung dargestellt sind.
