Means for resealing threaded joints of gas pipework in buildings

This European Standard specifies the properties and the test methods of sealants used to reseal threaded joints of metallic gas pipework in buildings operated at a maximum allowed operating pressure of 100 mbar (such sealants hereafter are referred to as "sealants").   Note Gas pipework in buildings is in accord ance with EN 1775 the pipework between the point  of delivery and the inlet connection to the gas appliance.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Eigenschaften und Prüfverfahren von Mitteln fest, die zum nachträglichen Abdichten von Verbindungen in Gas-Leitungsinstallationen in Gebäuden mit einem maximalen Betriebsdruck von 100mbar dienen (derartige Dichtmittel werden im folgenden als "Dichtmittel" bezeichnet).  Anmerkung: Gas-Leitungsinstallationen in Gebäuden sind in Übereinstimmung mit prEN1775 die Leitungsinstallationen zwischen der Gas-Übergabestelle und der Geräteeingangsverbindung.

Matériaux pour la réétanchéité des raccords filetés des tuyauteries de gaz dans les bâtiments

La présente norme européenne spécifie les propriétés et méthodes d'essai des produits d'étanchéité utilisés pour refaire l'étanchéité des raccords filetés des tuyauteries métallique de gaz dans les bâtiments soumis a une pression de service maximale admise de 100 mbar (ces produits d'étanchéité sont désignés ci-apressous le terme de "produits d'étanchéité").   Note: Conformément a l'EN 1775, unetuyauterie de gaz dans les bâtiments est une tuyauterie reliant le point de livraison et le raccord d'arrivée de l'appareil a gaz.

Test gases - Test pressures - Appliance categories

This document specifies the test gases, test pressures and categories of appliances relative to the use of gaseous fuels of the first, second and third families. It serves as a reference document in the specific standards for appliances that fall within the scope of the Council Directive on the approximation of the laws of Member States concerning gas appliances 2009/142/EC.
The standard makes recommendations for the use of the gases and pressures to be applied for the tests. The full procedure will be given in the corresponding appliance standards.
NOTE   The test gases and the test pressures specified in this standard are in principle intended to be used with all the appliances in order to establish conformity with the corresponding standards.
However, the use of some test gases and test pressures may not be appropriate in the following cases:
-   appliances with nominal heat input greater than 300 kW;
-   appliances constructed on site;
-   appliances in which the final design is influenced by the user;
-   appliances constructed for use with high supply pressures (notably direct use of the saturated vapour pressure).
In these cases, the specific appliance standards may specify other test conditions in order to establish compliance with their requirements.

This standard specifies requirements and associated test methods for rubber materials used in gas installations, gas equipment and gas appliances in contact with 1st, 2nd and 3rd family combustible gases as classified in EN 437 e.g. natural gas, LPG, bio methane bio LPG. It also establishes a classification based on temperature range and hardness. This standard is applicable to materials from which are manufactured homogeneous seals and homogeneous or reinforced diaphragms.
Since the dimensions and shape of the components differ from those of standard test pieces taken from sheet material as used for type testing of the rubber materials according to this standard, tolerances have been made in the requirements specified by Annex A for the components with respect to those specified for standard test pieces.
The range of operating temperatures covered by this standard is - 40 °C to + 150 °C.
This standard is not applicable for silicone rubber used either above 200 hPa (200 mbar) nominal pressure or at temperatures below 0 °C with 3rd family gases, as there is the possibility of condensation.
