Overview
SIST EN IEC 62841-3-7:2021/A11:2021 is a European safety standard developed by the CLC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) that specifies particular safety requirements for transportable wall saws. These saws are electric motor-operated, guided by a track system, and designed for cutting concrete, stone, or similar materials using a diamond wheel. This amendment A11 updates the original EN IEC 62841-3-7:2021 and focuses on ensuring the safe design, construction, and operation of these specialized cutting tools.
The scope covers transportable wall saws intended for dry cutting or connected to a liquid cooling system, with diamond wheel speeds not exceeding 100 m/s peripheral speed. It excludes wall saws with automatic cutting direction changes, hydraulic systems, and hand-held cut-off machines, which are addressed separately.
Key Topics
Safety Requirements
The standard emphasizes safe handling, mechanical strength, and operational controls. It mandates features such as at least one handle for manual feed, easily accessible controls for feed motor direction and operation, and compliance with mechanical strength requirements to reduce risk during use.Noise and Vibration Emissions
