CEN/TC 162/WG 9 - Motorcycle rider protective clothing

This document describes some of the test methods for use with EN 17092 protective garments for motorcycle riders (Part 2 and following parts). It describes the appropriate test methods for zoning, ergonomics, mechanical properties and impact abrasion resistance.

This European Standard specifies general requirements for motorcyclists’ protective garments of Class B: protective garments, which are intended to provide limited protection to the wearer against abrasion injury. It applies to protective garments for motorcycle on-road use.

This European Standard specifies the minimum coverage to be provided by motorcyclists’ chest protectors. This European Standard contains the requirements for the performance of the protectors under impact and details of the test methods, requirements for sizing, ergonomic requirements, and requirements for innocuousness, labelling and the provision of information.
Note that this European Standard defines a product which provides limited protection against mechanical impacts and falls to the chest. If the product is only intended to protect against lofted stones (commonly used in Motocross riding) readers are invited to refer to EN 14021:2003 instead.

This European Standard applies to protective gloves for motorcycle on-road use. It specifies the requirements for sizing, ergonomics, innocuousness, mechanical properties, impact protection, marking and information for users. It also describes the appropriate test methods.

The standard contains the requirements for the performance of the protectors under impact and details of the test methods. Requirements for sizing, ergonomic requirements, and requirements for innocuousness, labelling and the provision of information are included.

This European Standard covers requirements and test methods for mechanically activated inflatable protectors for motorcycle riders (in the following text called protector). It specifies the minimum level of protection, the minimum intervention time of inflated bag, and the minimum coverage to be provided by motorcyclists' protectors worn by riders. The requirements of this standard are applicable to various design of inflatable protectors and refers to all body areas and their combinations which are claimed to be protected. Inflatable protectors covered by this standard may be incorporated in motorcycle garments or equipped with by appropriate restraint systems and worn on their own.
The standard contains the requirements for the performance of the system during an accident and details of the test methods, requirements for sizing, ergonomics, innocuousness, labelling and the provision of information.
Inflatable protectors other than mechanically activated are not covered by this standard.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for limb joint impact protectors incorporated or intended to be incorporated into motorcycle riders' clothing or used as separate items.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for the stone shields to be worn by youths and adults of either sex while riding motorcycles in motocross and other off-road activities on dirt roads.
Hence this European Standard contains general and performance requirements for the materials utilised and requirements for sizes, shapes, marking and assembly methodology.
This European Standard is not applicable to stone shield for children and for people with chest girth below 75 cm.

This European Standard specifies performance requirements for jackets,trousers, one-piece or two-piece suits which are intended to protect professional motorcycle riders against mechanical injury on metalled road surfaces. The professional rider is a person who is employed to provide or contracts to perform for reward, the services requiring the riding of a motocycle. Examples are: a) the delivery of letters, packets or other small freight; b) the transport of passengers by motocycle; c) emergency medical treatment; d) vehicle breakdown support.

This European Standard specifies performance requirements for clothing materials and assembly methodology utilised in the manufacture of professional motorcycle riders jackets, trousers and one-piece and divided suits which are intended to protect the wearer against mechanical injury on metalled road surfaces. It also specifies appropriate test methods whereby conformity against these requirements can be assessed.

It also specifies appropriate test methods.

DIN - Numerous translation errors

This European Standard is part two of a standard for motorcycle riders' protective clothing. It contains requirements for back-protectors. Back-protectors meeting the requirements of this European Standard will provide some protection against injury caused by impacts with road surfaces in motorcycle accidents. They may also slightly reduce the injuries caused by impacts with objects such as other vehicles.
