Contract and educational furniture
Requirements for all types of non domestic furniture, by using as far as possible the common test methods drafted by WG 9
General Information
This document specifies requirements for the safety, strength and durability of all types of non-domestic tables including those with glass in their construction.
It does not apply to office work tables or desks, tables for educational institutions, laboratory workbenches for educational institutions and outdoor tables for which EN standards exist.
It does not apply to laboratory workbenches for professional use and industrial workbenches.
It does not apply to tables where the table top is not fixed to the understructure, i.e. when applying test 6, Table 2, the top becomes detached from the understructure.
With exception of the stability tests, this document does not provide assessment of the suitability of any storage features included in non-domestic tables.
It does not include requirements for electrical safety.
It does not include requirements for the resistance to ageing, degradation.
This document has three annexes:
- Annex A (normative) Test methods for finger entrapment;
- Annex B (informative) Additional test requirements;
- Annex C (informative) Test severity in relation to application.

This document specifies requirements for the safety, strength, and durability for all types of non-domestic storage furniture.
It does not apply to domestic storage, industrial storage, kitchen, catering equipment, retail storage, and industrial storage lockers.
Requirements for strength and durability do not apply to the structure of the building for example the strength of wall hanging cabinets includes only the cabinets and the parts used for attachment. The wall and the wall attachments are not included.
The standard contains five annexes
Annex A (normative) Test methods for finger entrapment;
Annex B (normative) Requirements for schools, kindergartens and similar applications
Annex C (normative) Selecting product from a range of furniture
Annex D (informative) Guidance of test severity in relation to application
Annex E (informative) Suggested loads for tests not specified in this standard
It does not include requirements for the resistance to ageing, degradation and flammability.

This European Standard specifies requirements determining the safety, structural strength and durability of all types of seating that are permanently fastened to the floor and/or wall, whether in bench or individual seat form.
This standard does not apply to linked seating not fastened to the floor and/or walls and street furniture.
It does not include requirements for resistance to ageing, degradation, flammability, the effect of ambient temperature and the durability of upholstery materials.
The standard has two annexes:
- Annex A (normative) Additional test methods;
- Annex B (informative) Test severity in relation to application.

This European Standard specifies strength requirements and test methods for the links used for non-domestic seating, which can be linked together in a row.
This European Standard does not specify strength or durability requirements for individual chairs as these are contained within EN 15373.
Assessment of ageing and degradation is not included.
Tests carried out according to this European Standard are intended to demonstrate the ability of the links to function correctly in their intended environment. It should be understood that fulfilling the requirements does not ensure that the links will operate as expected in circumstances or emergencies that cannot be foreseen.

This draft European Standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for laboratory benches including laboratory tables and gives recommendations for their dimensions. It applies to benches, movable tables and overbench shelves designed for use in research, educational, quality control and similar laboratories. It should be understood that fulfilling the requirements do not ensure that failure will not occur as a result of habitual misuse or after an excessively long period of service. The tests are designed to be applied to a stand-alone bench that is fully assembled and ready for use.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for storage units (see 3.1) used in laboratories.
This European Standard specifies strength, durability and safety requirements to prevent serious injury through normal functional use, as well as misuse that might reasonably be expected to occur.
Safety, depending on the structure of the building, is not included e.g. the strength of wall hanging cabinets includes only the cabinet and its parts. The wall and the fixing in the wall are not included.
It should be understood that the tests do not ensure that structural failure will not eventually occur as a result of habitual misuse or after an excessively long period of service.
Assessment of ageing, degradation and the heating effect of appliances are not included nor are ergonomic aspects or resistance to fire.
