EN 14596:2018 - Tanks for transport of dangerous goods - Service equipment for tanks - Emergency pressure relief valve - is a European (CEN) standard that defines performance, critical dimensions and required tests for emergency pressure relief valves fitted to road tank and vehicle-mounted tanks. The standard applies to valves used with flammable liquid substances (ADR Class 3) with a vapour pressure not exceeding 110 kPa at 50 °C (including petrol), and excludes substances sub‑classified as toxic or corrosive. EN 14596:2018 clarifies functional requirements (open/close/contain), design characteristics and mandatory production and type testing.
