Safety of machinery - Permanent means of access to machinery - Part 1: Choice of fixed means of access between two levels - Amendment 1 (ISO 14122-1:2001/Amd 1:2010)
Applies to all machinery (stationary and mobile) where fixed means of access are necessary. May also apply to means of access to that part of the building where the machine is installed, providing the main function of that part of the building is to provide a means of access to the machine. Applies also to access means specific to the machine which are not permanently fixed to the machine and which may be removed or moved to the side for some operations of the machine.

This amendment A1 modifies the European Standard EN ISO 14122-1:2001; it was approved by CEN on 14 April 2010.
CEN members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of this
amendment into the relevant national standard without any alteration. Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such
national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN Management Centre or to any CEN member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the
responsibility of a CEN member into its own language and notified to the CEN Management Centre has the same status as the official
versions.

This document (EN ISO 14122-1:2001/A1:2010) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 199
"Safety of machinery" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 114 “Safety of machinery” the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by October 2010.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

Relationship between this European Standard and the Essential
Requirements of EU Directive 98/37/EC
This International Standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission
and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the
New Approach Directive 98/37/EC, amended by 98/79/EC.
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive and has been
implemented as a national standard in at least one Member State, compliance with the normative Clauses of
this standard confers, within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the
relevant Essential Requirements 1.6.2, “Access to operating position and service points”, and 1.5.15, “Risks of
slipping, tripping or falling”, of that Directive and associated EFTA regulations.
WARNING — Other requirements and other EU Directives may be applicable to the product(s) falling
within the scope of this standard.
