This document specifies a method for determining the performance of a preservative, applied to the upper surface of the mortar test specimens, in preventing the growth of dry rot through the treated mortar when exposed to the test fungus.
This method is only applicable to masonry fungicides applied as a true solution of the preservative in water or dilute oil in water emulsion. It is not applicable to rods, pastes and other similar preservative types. This method is applicable to preservatives applied to masonry by brushing, spraying and/or injection techniques or mixed into rendering and plastering mortar for masonry.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Wirksamkeit eines Schutzmittels zur Verhinderung des Durchwachsens des Echten Hausschwamms durch den behandelten Mörtel, bei dem auf ihrer Oberseite behandelte Mörtelprüfkörper der Einwirkung des Prüfpilzes ausgesetzt werden, fest.
Dieses Verfahren ist nur für Mauerwerksfungizide anwendbar, die als echte Lösung des Schutzmittels in Wasser oder als wasserbasierte Schutzmittel-Emulsionen angewendet werden. Es gilt nicht für Schutzmittelpatronen, Pasten und ähnliche Schutzmitteltypen. Das Verfahren ist anwendbar für Schutzmittel, die mittels Streich-, Sprüh- und/oder Injektionstechniken auf das Mauerwerk aufgebracht oder Putz- und Gipsverputzmörteln für Mauerwerke zugemischt werden.

Le présent document décrit une méthode de détermination de la performance d'un produit de préservation, appliqué sur la surface supérieure d'éprouvettes de mortier, en vue d'empêcher le développement de la mérule au travers du mortier traité après exposition au champignon d'essai.
La présente méthode est applicable seulement aux fongicides pour maçonneries appliqués en tant que solution aqueuse de produit de préservation ou en tant qu'émulsion de produit de préservation en phase aqueuse. Elle n'est pas applicable aux produits de préservation à l'état de solide, de pâte ou équivalent. Cette méthode est applicable aux produits de préservation appliqués à la maçonnerie par badigeonnage, par des procédés de pulvérisation et/ou d'injection ou mélangés à des enduits pour maçonnerie applicables en extérieur et/ou en intérieur.

Introduction
This document describes a laboratory method of test for the assessment of the effectiveness of a masonry
fungicide applied to masonry for the prevention of the growth of dry rot, Serpula lacrymans (Schumacher
ex Fries) S.F. Gray into wood.
This laboratory method enables the determination of the concentration of a preservative within mortar
which could prevent the dry rot fungus from growing through a given mortar layer treated with this
preservative.
Test results obtained with earlier versions of CEN/TS 12404 are still valid.
1 Scope
This document specifies a method for determining the performance of a preservative, applied to the
upper surface of the mortar test specimens, in preventing the growth of dry rot through the treated
mortar when exposed to the test fungus.
