Hardwood round timber - Qualitative classification - Part 1: Oak and beech

This standard defines the rules for the qualitative classification of round timbers of oaks and beech presented in the form of tree-length, log or billet. The oaks classification is applied only for the following species: sessile oak (Quercus sessiliflora SALISB, or Quercus petraea LIEBL) and pedonculated oak (Quercus robur L. or Quercus pedonculata EHRH).

Diese Europäische Norm definiert die Regeln zur qualitativen Klassifizierung von gefällten Stämmen von Eichen und Buche in der Form ganzer Stammlängen und längerer oder kürzerer Stammabschnitte.  Die Eichen-Klassifizierung wird für folgende Eichenarten angewendet: Traubeneiche (Quercus sessiliflora SALISB oder Quercus petraea LIEBL) und Stieleiche (Quercus robur L. oder Quercus pedonculata EHRH).

Bois ronds feuillus - Classement qualitatif - Partie 1: Chêne et hêtre

La présente partie de norme a pour objet de fixer les règles de classement qualitatif des bois ronds de chênes et de hêtre qui se présentent sous forme de grume, bille ou billon.  Le classement relatif aux chênes s'applique uniquement pour les espèces suivantes: le chêne sessile ou rouvre (Quercus sessiliflora SALISB, ou Quercus petraea LIEBL) et le chêne pédonculé (Quercus robur L. ou Quercus pedunculata EHRH).

Sawn timber - Assessment of drying quality

This European Standard defines a method of assessment of drying quality. It applies to a lot of dried sawn timber (surfaced or not). It applies to both softwood and hardwood with a thickness not greater than 100 mm.
The quality of drying is expressed in terms of moisture content: target, average of the lot and variation between the pieces of the lot.
An option for specifying the degree of case-hardening is included.
NOTE 1   Other features related to drying, e.g. check, shake, warp, stain, etc., are specified in documents for visual grading of sawn timber or in product specifications and are not covered by this document.
NOTE 2   In the following the term "sawn timber" is used for all dried timber covered by this scope.
