Non-destructive testing of welds - Radiographic testing of welded joints

This European Standard specifies fundamental techniques of radiography with the object of enabling satisfactory and repeatable results to be obtained economically. The techniques are based on generally recognized practice and fundamental theory of the subject.  This standard applies to the radiographic examination of fusion welded joints in metallic materials.  It applies to the joints of plates or pipes. Besides its conventional meaning, "pipe" as used in this standard should be understood to cover other cylindrical bodies such as tubes, penstocks, boiler drums and pressure vessels. This standard compies with EN 444.  This standard does not specify acceptance levels of the indications.  If contracting parties apply lower test criteria, the quality achieved may be significantly lower than when this standard is stricly applied.

Diese Norm legt die grundlegenden Regeln für die Durchstrahlungsprüfung mit dem Ziel fest, genügende und vergleichbare Ergebnisse in wirtschaftlicher Weise zu erreichen. Die Regeln basieren auf allgemein anerkannte Vorgehensweisen und auf den grundlegenden Theorien. Diese Norm ist anwendbar für die Durchstrahlungsprüfung von Schmelzschweißverbindungen metallischer Werkstoffe. Sie gilt für Schweißverbindungen von Platten und Rohren.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les techniques fondamentales de radiographie permettant d'obtenir des résultats satisfaisants et reproductibles de façon économique. Ces techniques reposent sur une pratique généralement reconnue et sur la théorie fondamentale en la matière. La présente norme européenne s'applique au contrôle par radiographie des assemblages soudés par fusion des matériaux métalliques.

This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 1435:1997; it was approved by CEN on 20 November 2003.
