Lashing and securing arrangements on road vehicles for sea transportation on Ro/ro ships - General requirements - Part 1: Commercial vehicles and combinations of vehicles, semi-trailers excluded (ISO 9367-1:1989)

Specifies the minimum requirements to allow efficient lashing and securing of road vehicles on board roll-on/roll-off ships. Applies to goods vehicles, semi-trailer towing vehicles, road trains, and combination of vehicles with a maximum authorized total mass of vehicle and cargo, as defined in ISO 1176, of between 3,5 t and 40 t. Does not apply to passenger cars, buses, and special vehicles.

IS0 9367-l : 1989 (El Foreword IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern- mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0 collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting. International Standard IS0 9367-l was prepared jointly by Technical Committee ISO/TC 8, Shipbuilding and marine structures and ISO/TC 22, Road vehicles. IS0 9367 at present consists of the following part, under the general title Lashing and securing arrangements on road vehicles for sea transportation on Ro/Ro ships - General requirements: - Part 7: Commercial vehicles and combinations of vehicles, semi- trailers excluded. NOTE - A future part of IS0 9367 will cover semi-trailers. Annex A of this part of IS0 9367 is for information only. 0 IS0 1989 All rights reserved. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ISO9367-1 : 1989 (E) Lashing and securing arrangements on road vehicles for sea transportation on Ro/Ro ships - General requirements - Part 1: Commercial vehicles and combinations of vehicles, semi-trailers excluded 1 Scope This part of IS0 9367 specifies the minimum requirements to allow efficient lashing and securing of road vehicles on board roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) ships, indicating in particular the lashing arrangements on the vehicle and the securing method to be used. It also gives, in annex A, for information to vehicle designers, the securing point arrangements generally used on Ro/Ro ships as laid down by International Maritime Organiz- ation UMO) recommendations. This part of IS0 9367 applies to road vehicle types defined in 3.2 with a maximum authorized total mass of vehicle and cargo, as defined in IS0 1176, of between 3,5 t and 40 t. Semi-trailers will be the subject of a future part of IS0 9367. IS0 9367 does not apply to passenger cars, buses, special vehicles (towing vehicles alone) or commercial vehicles which are not intended for transport on Ro/Ro ships but are being freighted for delivery purposes only without pay-load. NOTE - Road vehicles with characteristics outside the general parameters (particularly where the normal height of the centre of grav- ity is exceeded) necessitate special consideration of the location and number of securing points. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of IS0 9367. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this part of IS0 9367 are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. Members of IEC and IS0 maintain registers of currently valid International Standards. IS0 1176: - l), Road vehicles - Masses - Vocabulary and symbols.
