This European standard covers the evaluation of conformity and the factory production control of basic borosilicate float glass for use in buildings.
For glass products with electrical wiring or connections for, e.g. alarm or heating purposes, other directives, e.g. Low Voltage Directive, may apply.

Dieses Europäische Norm umfasst die Konformitätsbewertung und die werkseigene Produktionskontrolle von Basiserzeugnissen aus gefloatetem Borosilicatglas zur Verwendung im Bauwesen.
Für Glaserzeugnisse mit elektrischer Verkabelung oder Anschlüssen, wie z. B. Alarm- oder Heizungsanwendungen, können andere Richtlinien, z. B. die Niederspannungsrichtlinie, gelten.

La présente Norme européenne couvre l'évaluation de la conformité et le contrôle de la production en usine de la glace borosilicate de base utilisée dans la construction.
Pour les produits verriers couplés à des fils ou branchements électriques pour les fonctions d'alarme ou de chauffage par exemple, d'autres directives comme la Directive Basse Tension peuvent s'appliquer.

This document (prEN 1748-1-2:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 129 “Glass
in building”, the secretariat of which is held by NBN.
This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This document will supersede EN 1748-1-2:2004.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association, and supports basic work requirements of EU Regulation and essential
requirements of EU Directive(s).
For relationship with EU Regulation/Directive(s), see informative Annex ZA which is an integral part of
this document.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are the following:
a) the standard has been revised to fulfil the requirements of the Regulation (EU) No 305/2011
(Construction Product Regulation), modified by Regulations (EU) No 157/2014, (EU) No 568/2014
and (EU) No 574/2014;
b) the solar factor, g, is listed within the spectrophotometric characteristics to be declared in the
Declaration of Performances (DoP);
c) the durability/conformity assessment is listed within the characteristics to be declared in the DoP;
d) the mechanical resistance shall be given in the DoP by the characteristic bending strength of the
glass.
