This document is part of a series of standards dealing with specification and qualification of welding procedures. Annex A gives details of this series of standards, Annex B gives a table for the use of these standards, and Annex C gives a flow diagram for the development and qualification of a WPS.
This document defines general rules for the specification and qualification of welding procedures for metallic materials. This document also refers to several other standards as regards detailed rules for specific applications.
This document is applicable to manual, partly mechanized, fully mechanized and automated welding.
Welding procedures are qualified by conforming to one or more welding procedure qualification records (WPQR). The use of a particular method of qualification is often a requirement of an application standard.
It is assumed that welding procedure specifications are used in production by competent welders, qualified in accordance with the relevant part of ISO 9606 or by competent operators qualified in accordance with ISO 14732.

Dieses Dokument legt allgemeine Regeln für die Anforderung und Qualifizierung von Schweißverfahren für metallische Werkstoffe fest. Dieses Dokument nimmt auch Bezug auf verschiedene andere Normen hinsichtlich genauer Regelungen bei besonderen Anwendungen.
Dieses Dokument ist für manuelles, teilmechanisiertes, vollmechanisiertes und automatisiertes Schweißen anwendbar.
Die Schweißverfahren werden durch Übereinstimmung mit einer oder mehreren Berichten über die Qualifizierung des Schweißverfahrens (en: welding procedure qualification records, WPQR) qualifiziert. Die Anwendung eines besonderen Verfahrens zur Qualifizierung ist oftmals eine Forderung einer Anwendungsnorm.
Es wird vorausgesetzt, dass die Schweißanweisungen in der Fertigung von befähigten Schweißern, die nach dem entsprechenden Teil der ISO 9606, oder von befähigten Bedienern, die nach ISO 14732 qualifiziert sind, angewendet werden.

Le présent document fait partie d'une série de normes relatives au descriptif et à la qualification des modes opératoires de soudage. L'Annexe A fournit des détails relatifs à cette série de normes, l'Annexe B fournit un tableau pour l'utilisation de ces normes et l'Annexe C fournit un diagramme fonctionnel pour le développement et la qualification d'un DMOS.
Le présent document définit les règles générales pour l'établissement du descriptif et la qualification d'un mode opératoire de soudage pour les matériaux métalliques. Le présent document fait référence à d'autres normes pour mettre en œuvre des règles détaillées concernant des applications spécifiques.
Le présent document est applicable au soudage manuel, partiellement mécanisé, totalement mécanisé et automatique.
Les modes opératoires de soudage sont qualifiés s'ils sont conformes à un ou plusieurs procès-verbaux de qualification d'un mode opératoire de soudage (PV-QMOS). L'utilisation d'une méthode spécifique de qualification est souvent une exigence d'une norme d'application.
Les descriptifs des modes opératoires de soudage sont supposés être utilisés en production par des soudeurs compétents, qualifiés en conformité avec les parties appropriées de l'ISO 9606 ou par des opérateurs compétents, qualifiés en conformité avec l'ISO 14732.

Ta dokument je del skupine standardov, ki obravnavajo specifikacije in kvalifikacije postopkov varjenja. V dodatku A so podane podrobnosti te skupine standardov, v dodatku B je podana tabela za uporabo teh standardov in v dodatku C je podan diagram poteka za razvoj in kvalifikacijo specifikacije za postopek varjenja (WPS). Ta dokument določa splošna pravila za specifikacijo in kvalifikacijo varilnih postopkov za kovinske materiale. Ta dokument se navezuje tudi na več drugih standardov, kar zadeva podrobna pravila za posebne vrste uporabe. Ta dokument se uporablja za ročno, delno mehanizirano, popolnoma mehanizirano in avtomatizirano varjenje. Varilni postopki so kvalificirani skladno z enim ali več zapisi o kvalifikacijah varilnih postopkov (WPQR). Uporaba določene metode kvalifikacije je pogosto zahteva standarda uporabe. This document (EN ISO 15607:2019) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 44 "Welding

and allied processes" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 “Welding and allied

processes” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an

identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2020, and conflicting national standards shall be

withdrawn at the latest by April 2020.

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 15607:2003), which has been technically

revised. It also incorporates the Technical Corrigendum ISO 15607:2003/Cor.1:2005.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
— ISO 3834 is no longer referenced;

— titles of referenced documents have been corrected and some references have been moved to the

Bibliography;

— references to International Standards for laser-arc hybrid welding, friction stir welding and

production welding of steel castings have been added.

Introduction

Welding procedure specifications (WPSs) are needed in order to provide a well-defined basis for

planning of the welding operations and for quality control during welding. Welding is considered

a special process in the terminology of standards for quality systems. Standards for quality

systems usually require that special processes be carried out in accordance with written procedure

specifications.

Preparation of a welding procedure specification provides the necessary basis for, but does not in itself

ensure that the welds fulfil the requirements. Some deviations, notably imperfections and distortions,

can be evaluated by non-destructive methods on the finished product.

However, metallurgical deviations constitute a special problem because non-destructive evaluation of

the mechanical properties is impossible at the present level of non-destructive technology. This has

resulted in the establishment of a set of rules for qualification of the welding procedure prior to the

release of the specification to actual production. This document defines these rules.

Qualification of a preliminary welding procedure specification (pWPS) by more than one method is not

recommended.
