Film identification - Minimum set of metadata for cinematographic works
This European Standard contains a comprehensive set of metadata elements for representing information about cinematographic works, their variants and manifestations. Detailed information on available media items, viewing requirements, and access conditions is not covered by this standard. However, elementary information concerning the availability of media items can be expressed.
This European Standard also provides some extension points for adding more detailed data types without violating conformance. The guiding principle here is that no information from existing filmographic records should be lost when these are expressed according to this standard. Finally, an XML schema is provided as an aid to data interchange and as a tool for verifying the syntactic conformance of implementations.

Diese Europäische Norm enthält einen umfassenden Satz von Metadatenelementen zur Darstellung von Informationen über Kinematographische Werke, ihre Varianten und ihre Manifestationen. Diese Norm befasst sich nicht mit detaillierten Informationen bezüglich verfügbarer Medieneinheiten, ihrer Vorführungs-bedingungen und Zugangsvoraussetzungen. Einfache Informationen über die Verfügbarkeit von Medien-einheiten können jedoch zum Ausdruck gebracht werden.
Diese Europäische Norm stellt auch einige Optionen zur Verfügung, mit denen ohne Verletzung der Konformität detailliertere Datentypen hinzugefügt werden können. Das Leitprinzip ist dabei, dass keine in bereits existierenden filmografischen Dateien enthaltenen Informationen verloren gehen, wenn diese entsprechend dieser Norm dargestellt werden. Schließlich wird zur Unterstützung des Datenaustausches und als Werkzeug für die Verifizierung der syntaktischen Konformität von Implementationen ein XML-Schema zur Verfügung gestellt.

La présente Norme européenne contient un jeu complet d’éléments de métadonnées pour la représentation des informations sur les oeuvres cinématographiques, leurs variantes et leurs manifestations. Les informations plus détaillées sur les supports disponibles, les préconisations de visualisation et les conditions d’accès, ne sont pas couvertes dans la présente norme. Cependant, des informations élémentaires concernant la disponibilité de ces supports peuvent être apportées.
La présente Norme européenne fournit des dispositions permettant d’ajouter des types de données plus détaillées sans enfreindre la conformité. Le principe conducteur veut qu’aucune information émanant de notices existantes de filmographie ne soit perdue lorsque ces informations sont exprimées conformément à la présente norme.
