This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 60691:2003; it was approved by CENELEC on
2010-03-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.

This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

approved by CENELEC as amendment A2 to EN 60691:2003 on 2010-03-01.

IEC 60691:2023 is available as IEC 60691:2023 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60691:2023 is applicable to thermal-links intended for incorporation in electrical appliances, electronic equipment and component parts thereof, normally intended for use indoors, in order to protect them against excessive temperatures under abnormal conditions. IEC 60127-8:2018(E) relates to fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection rated up to AC 500 V and/or DC 500 V for printed circuits and other substrate systems, used for the protection of electric appliances, electronic equipment and component parts thereof, normally intended to be used indoors. It does not apply to fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection for appliances intended to be used under special conditions, such as in a corrosive or explosive atmosphere. The object of this part of IEC 60127 is a) to establish uniform requirements for fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection so as to protect appliances or parts of appliances in the most suitable way; b) to define the performance of the fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection, so as to give guidance to manufacturers of electrical appliances and electronic equipment and to ensure replacement of fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection by those of similar dimensions and characteristics; c) to establish uniform test methods for fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection, so as to allow verification of the values (for example rated dissipation, functioning characteristic and rated breaking capacity values) specified by the manufacturer. This part of IEC 60127 applies in addition to the requirements of IEC 60127-1. This first edition of IEC 60127-8 cancels and replaces IEC PAS 60127-8:2014. Miniature fuses - Part 5: Guidelines for quality assessment of miniature fuse-links

IEC 60127-5:2016 gives a guide for tests for assessing the quality of miniature fuse-links other than type tests, for the case where there is no complete agreement between the user and the manufacturer on what such tests apply. This document provides guidelines and limits generally acceptable for quality control purposes by large scale users and manufacturers of miniature fuse-links. This document has validity for large scale series with lot sizes of 10 000 and more. It is also applicable for smaller lot sizes, if necessary. Periodic inspections by reduced type tests (Clause 5) are intended to be carried out periodically in order to ensure that the level of technical performance previously verified by complete type tests as given in subsequent parts of the IEC 60127 series is maintained. The frequency of periodic in relation to lot-by-lot inspections is not established in this document. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1988. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - addition of new tables in 4.3; - addition of new tables in Clause 5. IEC 60694:2015 is applicable to thermal-links intended for incorporation in electrical appliances, electronic equipment and component parts thereof, normally intended for use indoors, in order to protect them against excessive temperatures under abnormal conditions. This standard may be applicable to thermal-links for use under conditions other than indoors, provided that the climatic and other circumstances in the immediate surroundings of such thermal-links are comparable with those in this standard. This standard may be applicable to thermal-links in their simplest forms (e.g. melting strips or wires), provided that molten materials expelled during function cannot adversely interfere with the safe use of the equipment, especially in the case of hand-held or portable equipment, irrespective of its position. Annex H of this standard is applicable to thermal-link packaged assemblies where the thermal-link(s) has already been approved to this standard but packaged in a metallic or non-metallic housing and provided with terminals/wiring leads. This standard is applicable to thermal-links with a rated voltage not exceeding 690 V a.c. or d.c. and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. The objectives of this standard are: to establish uniform requirements for thermal-links, to define methods of test, to provide useful information for the application of thermal-links in equipment. This standard is not applicable to thermal-links used under extreme conditions such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres. This standard is not applicable to thermal-links to be used in circuits on a.c. with a frequency lower than 45 Hz or higher than 62 Hz. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2002, Amendment 1:2006 and Amendment 2:2010. This fourth edition constitutes a technical revision. This fourth edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - requirements for thermal-link packaged assemblies; - renew the requirements and definitions for Th-test; - change starting temperature for interrupt current test; - clarify requirements for marking (packing label); - minimum Proof Tracking Index 175 instead 120. It does not apply to fuses completely covered by the subsequent parts of IEC 60269-1. It does not apply to miniature fuse-links for appliances intended to be used under special conditions, such as in corrosive or explosive atmospheres. This part of IEC 60127 applies in addition to the requirements of IEC 60127-1. Miniature fuse-links for special applications are not intended to be replaced by the end-user of an electrical/electronic appliance. The object of this part of IEC 60127 is to establish uniform test methods for miniature fuse-links for special applications, so as to allow verification of the values (for example melting time and breaking capacity values) specified by the manufacturer. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2013. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - defining a test board for surface mount fuse-links, Figure 2; - defining test schedules for homogenous series. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60127-1:2006. This third edition of IEC 60127-3 cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1988, its Amendment 1 (1991) and Amendment 2 (2002). This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - add a rectangular shape fuse-link as alternative in standard sheets 3 and 4; - add a small cartridge fuse-link as alternative in standard sheets 2, 3 and 4; - add the rated currents up to 10A in standard sheets 2, 3 and 4; - add Subclause 6.5; - add Subclause 9.7; - the extra samples for termination test (E1 to E6) will be chosen by random and not sorted by voltage drop in Table 1, 2, 3, and 4.
