Information is given on electrification parameters to enable train operating companies to confirm, after consultation with the rolling stock manufacturers, that risks of non-compatibility are minimized and that there will be no consequential disturbance on the electrification system. The interaction between pantograph and overhead contact line is dealt with in EN 50367:2020. The interaction with the control-command and signalling subsystem is not dealt with in this document. Basic considerations have been included concerning the use of accumulator trains.

IEC 60077-3:2019 is available as IEC 60077-3:2019 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60077-3:2019 gives the rules for circuit-breakers, the main contacts of which are connected to DC power and/or auxiliary circuits. The nominal voltage of these circuits does not exceed 3 000 V DC according to IEC 60850. This part of IEC 60077, together with IEC 60077-2, states specifically: a) the characteristics of the circuit-breakers; b) the service conditions with which circuit-breakers complies with reference to: - operation and behaviour in normal service; - operation and behaviour in the case of short circuit - dielectric properties; c) the tests for confirming the compliance of the components with the characteristics under the service conditions and the methods to be adopted for these tests; d) the information to be marked on, or given with, the circuit breaker. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, issued in 2001. This edition includes the following main technical changes with regard to the previous edition: - procedure of verification of temperature rise is changed; - air-tightness test as type test, insulation resistance measurement are added.

This European Standard establishes requirements for the compatibility of rolling stock with infrastructure particularly in relation to: – co-ordination of protection principles between power supply and traction units, especially fault discrimination for short-circuits; – co-ordination of installed power on the line and the power demand of trains; – co-ordination of traction unit regenerative braking and power supply receptivity; – co-ordination of harmonic behaviour. This European Standard deals with the definition and quality requirements of the power supply at the interface between traction units and fixed installations. This European Standard specifies the interface between rolling stock and electrical fixed installations for traction, in respect of the power supply system. The interaction between pantograph and overhead contact line is dealt with in EN 50367. The interaction with the “control-command” subsystem (especially signalling) is not dealt with in this standard. Requirements are given for TSI lines (both high speed and conventional) and classical lines. For classical lines, values, where given, are for the existing European networks. Furthermore the maximum values that are specified are applicable to the foreseen developments of the infrastructure of the Trans European rail networks. The following electric traction systems are within scope: – railways; – guided mass transport systems that are integrated with railways; – material transport systems that are integrated with railways. This European Standard does not apply retrospectively to rolling stock already in service. Railway applications - Electromagnetic compatibility - Part 3-2: Rolling stock - Apparatus

This European Standard applies to emission and immunity aspects of EMC for electrical and electronic apparatus intended for use on railway rolling stock. EN 50121-3-2 applies for the integration of apparatus on rolling stock. The frequency range considered is from d.c. to 400 GHz. No measurements need to be performed at frequencies where no requirement is specified. The application of tests shall depend on the particular apparatus, its configuration, its ports, its technology and its operating conditions. This standard takes into account the internal environment of the railway rolling stock and the external environment of the railway, and interference to the apparatus from equipment such as hand-held radio transmitters. If a port is intended to transmit or receive for the purpose of radio communication (intentional radiators, e.g. transponder systems), then the emission and immunity limits in this standard at the communication frequency do not apply. This standard does not apply to transient emissions when starting or stopping the apparatus. The objective of this standard is to define limits and test methods for electromagnetic emissions and immunity test requirements in relation to conducted and radiated disturbances. These limits and tests represent essential electromagnetic compatibility requirements. Emission requirements have been selected so as to ensure that disturbances generated by the apparatus operated normally on railway rolling stock do not exceed a level which could prevent other apparatus from operating as intended. Likewise, the immunity requirements have been selected so as to ensure an adequate level of immunity for rolling stock apparatus. The levels do not however cover extreme cases which may occur with an extremely low probability of occurrence in any location. Specific requirements which deviate from this standard shall be specified. Test requirements are specified for each port considered. These specific provisions are to be used in conjunction with the general provisions in EN 50121-1.

This Part 2 establishes the acceptance criteria according to EN 50388 1:2022, 10.2 for compatibility between traction units and power supply, in relation to: — co-ordination between controlled elements and also between these elements and resonances in the electrical infrastructure in order to achieve network system stability. — co-ordination of harmonic behaviour with respect to excitation of electrical resonances. The following electric traction systems are within scope: — railways; — guided mass transport systems that are integrated with railways; — material transport systems that are integrated with railways. Public three-phase grid networks are out of scope, but grid networks which are dedicated to railways are included. This document is applied in accordance with the requirements in EN 50388 1:2022, Clause 10. It does not apply retrospectively to rolling stock or railway power supply elements already in service. It is the aim of this Part 2 to support acceptance of new elements (rolling stock or infrastructure) by specifying precise requirements and methods for demonstration of compliance. This document acts as “code of practice” quoted in EN 50388 1, 10.2. However, it is still admissible to use the process as defined in EN 50388 1:2022, 10.3 instead. This version of the standard only applies to AC systems. Later versions might include similar effects in DC networks in addition, see Annex D. The main phenomena identified and treated in this document are: — electrical resonance stability. — low frequency stability. — overvoltages caused by harmonics. The interaction with signalling (including track circuits) is not dealt with in this document.

This European Standard, part 2 of EN 50388 is linked to prEN 50388 1 which describes the general items on technical criteria for the coordination between power supply and rolling stock to achieve interoperability This part 2 establishes the acceptance criteria according to prEN 50388 1:2017, 10.4 step 7 for compatibility between traction units and power supply, in relation to: - co-ordination between controlled elements and between them and resonances in the electrical infrastructure in order to achieve network system stability; - co-ordination of harmonic behaviour with respect of excitation of electrical resonances. The following electric traction systems are within scope: - railways; - guided mass transport systems that are integrated with railways; - material transport systems that are integrated with railways. Public three phase grid is out of scope. Railway dedicated grid is included. This European Standard is applied in accordance with the requirements in prEN 50388-1:2017, Clause 10. It does not apply retrospectively to rolling stock already in service. It is the aim of this part 2 to support acceptance of new elements (rolling stock or infrastructure) by specifying precise requirements and methods for demonstration of compliance. However, it is still admissible to use the process as defined in part 1 instead. The process of part 1 shall be applied if the case studied is not covered by part 2. This version of the standard only applies to AC systems. Later versions may include similar effects in DC networks in addition (see Annex D).
