112 Annex H
113 (normative)
114 Measuring energy consumption of the heating function and eco
115 function in combination microwave ovens
116 H.1 Purpose
117 This normative annex specifies the modifications requested to apply this standard to a combination
118 microwave oven with turntable.
119 Only the performance criteria related to the thermal function are considered. Performance criteria
120 related to microwave function or combination microwave function are described in IEC 60705.
121 H.2 Dimensions and mass
122 For combination microwave ovens with turntable the measurement of the internal dimensions and
123 the volume is done as specified in IEC 60705, clause 7.2.
124 H.3 Preheating and accuracy – test set up (see 7.2)
125 The air temperature in the empty combination microwave oven with turntable is measured with a
126 thermocouple according to 5.3 fixed to a grid or to the ceiling. It shall be ensured that the welding point
127 of the thermocouple is located at the centre of the calculated volume of the combination microwave
128 oven with a distance of at least 30 mm from any metal part.
129 If a grid is used for fixation, this grid shall be made of wire. It shall be placed above the turntable in
130 such a way that the turntable can rotate unhindered.
131 The thermocouple is led through the door gap in a way that the door is completely closed without
132 applying additional force. If the appliance is prepared with the thermocouples, do not operate it with a
133 function combined with microwave energy (see Annex D).
134 H.4 Energy consumption and time for heating a load (see Clause 8)
135 H.4.1 General
136 Combination microwave ovens without turntable are measured in accordance with Clause 8.
137 For combination microwave ovens with turntable, where the food rotates during the operation of the thermal
138 heat, the requirements and calculations specified in Clause 8 shall be applied taking into account the
139 modifications in this Annex H.
140 For combination microwave ovens with turntable, where the food does not rotate during the operation of the
141 thermal heat, the requirements and calculations specified in Clause 8 shall be applied taking into account
142 H.4.2.1 regarding the positioning of the brick.
143 Examples Appliances in which the turntable can be optionally switched off or in which a stationary grid can be inserted
144 in side racks above the turntable.
145 If the combination microwave oven is equipped with a turntable that can optionally be switched off by the user
146 during operation, both options are measured - with the turntable rotating in accordance with Annex H and with
147 the turntable switched off in accordance with Clause 8.
148 H.4.2 Test load
149 A brick as specified in Annex C shall be used. The modification concerns the hole for the thermocouples.
150 Instead of the thermocouples, two core drillings are necessary to accommodate two data loggers as specified
151 in Figure H.1.
59K/394/CDV - 7 - IEC CDV 60350-1/AMD1 ED3 © IEC 2024

152 The centre of the data logger shall be in the middle of the height of the brick.
155 Figure H.1 Brick – Position of data loggers
156 The diameter of the hole shall be the same of the data logger chosen for the measurement plus an additional
157 gap of 0,1 – 0,2 mm to ensure a smooth mounting and removal.
158 The holes shall be closed with a stamp. The stamp shall be made of brick (see Annex C) and have a
159 cylindrical shape with the same diameter of the data logger, and a height calculated to ensure the same mass
160 removed from the brick when drilling the hole plus 5 mm. Apply pressure to the stamp after mounting of the
161 data logger to ensure thermal contact.
162 The test set up shall ensure the thermal contact between brick and stam
