Adhesives for thermoplastic piping systems — Part 1: Determination of film properties
ISO 9311-1:2005 specifies three test procedures suitable for the determination of the spreadability and film properties of solvent-containing adhesives for thermoplastic piping systems. These methods do not produce directly comparable results. One method is applicable to non-thixotropic adhesives and the other two methods are applicable to thixotropic adhesives.

Ces méthodes ne donnent pas directement des résultats comparables. Une méthode est applicable aux adhésifs non thixotropiques, les deux autres méthodes étant applicables aux adhésifs thixotropiques.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent

ISO 9311-1 was prepared by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) in collaboration with
Technical Committee ISO/TC 138, Plastics pipes, fittings and valves for the transport of fluids, Subcommittee
SC 5, General properties of pipes, fittings and valves of plastic materials and their accessories — Test
methods and basic specifications, in accordance with the Agreement on technical cooperation between ISO
and CEN (Vienna Agreement).
Throughout the text of this document, read “.this European Standard.” to mean “.this International
Standard.”.

Foreword
This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 193 "Adhesives" the
secretariat of which is held by AENOR, in collaboration with Technical Committee ISO/TC 138 "Plastics pipes,
fittings and valves for the transport of fluids".
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by February 2006, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest
by February 2006.

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de
normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée
aux comités techniques de l'ISO. Chaque comité membre intéressé par une étude a le droit de faire partie du

La présente Norme européenne (EN ISO 9311-1:2005) a été élaborée par le comité technique CEN/TC 193
Adhésifs, dont le secrétariat est tenu par AENOR, en collaboration avec le comité technique ISO/TC 138
Tubes, raccords et robinetterie en matière plastique pour le transport des fluides.
La présente Norme européenne devra recevoir le statut de norme nationale, soit par publication d’un texte
identique, soit par entérinement, au plus tard en Janvier 2006 et toutes les normes nationales en contradiction
devront être retirées au plus tard en Janvier 2006.
