General Information
- Abstract
This part of ISO 22915 specifies tests for verifying the stability of — pallet stackers, — double stackers, and — order-picking trucks with an operator position elevating up to and including 1 200 mm lift height, measured from the ground to the floor of the platform. It is applicable to these types of industrial truck, whether with tilting or non tilting masts or fork arms, having a rated capacity up to and including 5 000 kg. It is also applicable to such trucks operating under the same conditions when equipped with load-handling attachments and to order-picking trucks with an elevating operator's position up to and including 1 200 mm lift height when equipped with an additional load lifting device(s).

REDLINE ISO/FDIS 22915-4 - Industrial trucks — Verification of stability — Part 4: Pallet-stacking trucks, double-stackers and order-picking trucks with operator position elevating up to and including 1 200 mm lift height
Overview
ISO/FDIS 22915-4:2026, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), sets forth test methods for verifying the stability of specific types of industrial trucks. This part focuses on pallet-stacking trucks, double-stackers, and order-picking trucks with operator positions that elevate up to and including 1,200 mm lift height, as measured from the ground to the platform floor.
Applicable to trucks with a rated capacity up to 5,000 kg, whether equipped with tilting or non-tilting masts or fork arms, this standard ensures safety compliance when these vehicles are used with or without load-handling attachments. Its requirements also extend to order-picking trucks fitted with additional load-lifting devices, maintaining safety under all specified conditions.
Key Topics
- Test Methods: Outlines standardized tests to verify truck stability during various operation modes, such as travel and stacking.
- Applicable Trucks: Applies to pallet stackers, double-stackers, and order-pickers with elevation up to 1,200 mm, including those with additional attachments or load-lifting devices.
- Lift Heights: Specifies how to determine proper test positions at various lift heights, ensuring comprehensive coverage of actual working scenarios.
- Axle and Wheel Positions: Details requirements for positioning axles, stabilizer wheels, and articulating frames on the tilt table during tests, reflecting real-world stability challenges.
- Datum Points: Requires use of reference points to ensure consistency in conducting and reproducing stability assessments.
- Travel and Load Arrangement: Addresses conditions for testing with loads in both leading and trailing positions, as well as the applicable configurations for double-stackers and order-picking trucks.
- Stability Criteria: Presents clear thresholds for tilt-table angles and operational circumstances that must be met for compliance.
Applications
ISO/FDIS 22915-4 is essential for:
- Industrial Truck Manufacturers: Assisting in the design of safer trucks that meet international stability standards, especially when developing new models or introducing additional attachments.
- Operators and Fleet Managers: Ensuring that their equipment meets globally recognized stability criteria, minimizing accident risks and enhancing workplace safety.
- Safety Inspectors and Regulators: Providing a clear benchmark for compliance checks within warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities using pallet stackers or order-picking trucks.
- Maintenance and Engineering Teams: Facilitating the assessment and recertification of industrial trucks after modifications or attachment installations, guaranteeing continued adherence to safety requirements.
Utilizing the methods and criteria of ISO/FDIS 22915-4 supports operational safety, reduces downtime from accidents, and demonstrates due diligence in line with international best practices for material handling equipment.
Related Standards
For comprehensive safety and performance management of industrial trucks, the following related standards should be consulted:
