Fire protection - Safety signs

Applicable to all situations in which it is necessary or desirable to indicate publicity the location and/or the nature of means of giving warning of fire and manual controls; means of escape from fire; means of fire-fighting; means of preventing fire spreading; areas or materials of special fire risk. Does not apply to graphical symbols used on plans or maps.

La présente Norme internationale spécifie les signaux de sécurité utilisables dans le cadre de la protection et de la lutte contre l'incendie. Son domaine d'application s'étend de façon aussi large que possible à toutes les situations où il est obligatoire, ou utile, de donner des indications publiques sur la localisation et/ou la nature a) des moyens d'alarme ou d'alerte et des commandes manuelles; b) des moyens d'évacuation; c) des équipements de lutte contre l'incendie; d) des dispositifs destinés à empêcher la propagation du feu; e) des zones ou des matériaux présentant un risque particulier d'incendie. La présente Norme internationale ne s'applique pas aux symboles graphiques utilisés sur des cartes ou des plans qui font l'objet de l'ISO 6790.

Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International
Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
merital and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at
least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting.
International Standard IS0 6309 was prepared by Technical committee ISO/TC 21,
Equipment for fire protection and fire fighting.
