BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 1105, Pesticides considered not to require common
names-Second list, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 81, Common names
for pesticides, the Secretariat of which is held by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
Work on this question led to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In November 1967, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 1046) was circulated to all
the IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of
an editorial nature, by the following Member Bodies:

The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0
Council which decided, in September 1969, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.
FOREWORD
IS0 Recommendation gives the Second List of pesticide chemicals with reasonably

short and distinctive chemical names or trivial names already known, to which it is deemed
unnecessary to assign recommended common names at present.
Thelintention is that all the members of the group of isomers of the same pesticide
are included in this list and, in consequence, it is not necessary to add any locants to the
chemical names.

La Recommandation ISO/R 1105, Pesticides consi&fés comme ne nécessitant pas de
nom commun - Deuxième liste, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 81, Noms
communs pour les pesticides, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par la British Standards Insti-
tution (BSI).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recom-
mandation ISO.
En novembre 1967, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 1046) fut soumis à l’enquête
de tous les Comités Membres de l’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifi-
cations d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

de I’ISO qui décida, en septembre 1969, de l’accepter comme RECOMMANDATION ISO.

La présente Recommandation IS0 donne la Deuxième Liste des produits chimiques
pesticides, dont le nom chimique est raisonnablement court et facile à distinguer ou dont
le nom courant est bien connu, et pour lesquels il ne semble pas nécessaire d’attribuer
des noms recommandés.
