Overview

EN 13567:2002/prA1 is a CEN draft amendment to the European standard EN 13567:2002 that specifies requirements and test methods for protective clothing for fencers - covering hand, arm, chest, abdomen, leg, genital and face protectors. Prepared by CEN/TC 162 (secretariat DIN), this prA1 amendment proposes targeted modifications to measurement definitions, test procedures and material requirements to improve clarity and safety. The amendment also supports the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 89/686/EEC for personal protective equipment.

• Material safety: pH of protective clothing materials shall be > 3.5 and < 8.5. Test methods specified: ISO 4045 for leather and EN 1413 for other materials.
• Editorial changes: insertion/deletion of figures/tables (Figure 2(c) deleted; Table 5 deleted) and renumbering of references.
