Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures – Part 2: Technical requirements for steel structures

This European Standard specifies requirements for execution of structural steelwork produced from:
a)   hot rolled, structural steel products up to S690;
b)   cold formed components and sheeting up to S700MC for stainless steels and S690 for structural steels;
c)   hot finished and cold formed austenitic and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel products;
d)   circular, square or rectangular hollow sections, produced as a standard range of rolled steel shapes or custom-made fabricated shapes.
This European Standard may be used for structural steel grades up to S960, provided that conditions for execution are verified against reliability criteria and any necessary additional requirements are specified.
This European Standard specifies requirements independent of the type and shape of the steel structure (e.g. buildings, bridges, plated or latticed components...). It specifies execution classes linked with consequence classes and with the production and service categories. Its scope includes structures subjected to fatigue.
NOTE 1   Consequence classes are defined in EN 1990, Annex B.
NOTE 2   Annex B of this European Standard gives guidelines for the choice of execution class
This European Standard applies to structures designed according to the relevant part of EN 1993. For cold formed components and sheeting, the requirements of this European Standard apply to construction classes I and II as defined in EN 1993-1-3.
NOTE 3   Requirements for execution of sheeting in construction class III may be specified in national rules.
This European Standard applies to steel components in composite steel and concrete structures designed according to the relevant part of EN 1994.
This European Standard may be used for structures designed according to other design rules provided that conditions for execution comply with them and any necessary additional requirements are specified.
This European Standard gives requirements for surfaces prior to the application of a protective treatm

-   warmgewalzten Baustahlerzeugnissen bis zu S690;
-   kaltgeformten Bauteilen und dünnwandigen Profilblechen bis zu S700MC bei nichtrostenden Stählen und S690 bei Baustählen;
-   warmgeformten und kaltgeformten austenitischen und austenitisch-ferritischen nichtrostenden Stahlerzeugnissen;

-   produits en acier de construction, laminés à chaud jusqu'à la nuance S690 incluse ;
-   éléments et plaques formés à froid jusqu'à la nuance S700 incluse pour les aciers inoxydables et S690 pour les aciers au carbone ;
-   produits en acier inoxydable, austénitique, austéno-ferritique et ferritique, finis à chaud et formés à froid ;
