This European Standard specifies the measurement of dimensional change of a hydraulic setting smoothing and/or levelling compound which is referred to in the following as "smoothing and/or levelling compound".

Overview

EN 13872:2004 is a CEN test method for measuring the dimensional change (shrinkage or expansion) of hydraulic setting floor smoothing and levelling compounds. The standard defines specimen geometry, measuring apparatus, test atmosphere and storage times to quantify length change of cast specimens and to report results as percent change. It is intended for manufacturers, testing laboratories, specifiers and quality-control personnel in the floor covering and construction-materials sectors.

• Result expression: Dimensional change reported as shrinkage (negative) or expansion (positive) in percent relative to the reference length (immediately after demoulding for storage A; immediately prior to immersion for storage B). Results are the arithmetic mean of three specimens, rounded to 0.01 %.
• Test report content: Must include reference to EN 13872, compound designation and batch, mixing method and time (per EN 1937), dimensional change values, any curling/twisting, influencing factors and test date.
