This part of IEC 61083 is applicable to software used for evaluation of impulse parameters from recorded impulse voltages and currents. It provides test waveforms and reference values for the software required to meet the measuring uncertainties and procedures specified in IEC 60060-1, IEC 60060-2, IEC 60060-3 and IEC 62475. Hardware with built-in firmware that cannot accept external numerical input data is not covered by this standard. The object of this standard is to - establish the tests which are necessary to show that the performance of the software complies with the requirements of the relevant IEC standards; - define the terms specifically related to digital processing; - specify reference values and the acceptance limits for the reference impulses; - specify the requirements for the record of performance; - define the methods to assess the contribution of software to the measurement uncertainty.

IEC 62057-1:2023 applies to stationary meter test units (MTUs) permanently installed in laboratories, used for testing and calibration of electricity meters, in particular for their type test, acceptance test and verification test. It covers the requirements for automatic MTUs for indoor laboratory application and applies to newly manufactured MTUs to test electricity meters on 50 Hz or 60 Hz networks with an AC voltage up to 600 V (phase to neutral).
If meters are intended for system voltages not specified in this document, special requirements are agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser.
This document also defines the kind of tests to perform as type tests / routine tests / acceptance tests and commissioning tests for MTUs.
It does not apply to:
• portable reference meters and portable sources;
• electricity meters;
• data interfaces to the meter and test procedures of data interface;
• transformer operated MTUs;
• personal computers supplied together with the MTU.

This part of IEC 60404 is applicable to surface insulation coatings on electrical steel strip and
sheet classified in IEC 60404-1-1.
This document defines the general principles and technical details of the tests for the
assessment of the thermal endurance of surface insulation coatings on electrical steel strip and
sheet.
The assessment is made by evaluating the change of a specified property of the surface
insulation coating due to a heat treatment at a specified temperature up to 850 °C for a specified
duration time up to 2 500 h. The specified property is measured at an ambient temperature of
(23 ± 5) °C both without heat treatment and after heat treatment.
This document is applicable to the following properties of surface insulation coatings:
– adhesion;
– surface insulation resistance;
– stacking factor.
This document is not applicable to other properties of surface insulation coatings, e.g. welding
properties, or to other effects, e.g. discoloration and off-gassing, which can be caused by
exposure to elevated temperatures.
NOTE Some of the tests take a very long time to perform and therefore they are often not appropriate for acceptance
tests of material supplied on a specific order.
