The technical requirements of this document and API [SPECIFICATION 19G2] used to be identical. In the
meantime API [SPECIFICATION 19G2-2010] has been technically revised as API [SPECIFICATION 19G2], 2nd
edition (2020). The purpose of this edition of ISO 17078-2[2024]is to bring it up to date, by referencing the
current edition of API [SPECIFICATION 19G2-2020 and including supplementary content.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
— Tubing-retrievable flow-control devices were added into the Scope.
— ISO 9000, ISO 17078-1, ISO 17078-3, ISO 17078-4 and ISO 7-1 were added in 2 Normative references and
API Q1, API 19G1, API 19G3 and API 19G4 deleted.
— The definition of tubing-retrievable flow-control devices was added in 3 Terms and definitions.
— The description of tubing-retrievable flow-control devices was added in Table 1, 6 Technical specification.
— The design optimization of tubing-retrievable flow-control devices was added in 6.3.9 Good design
practice.
— The requirements for testing of tubing-retrievable flow-control devices were added in Annex C.
