Standard Specification for Door Fittings, for Watertight /Gastight /Airtight, Weathertight, and Non-Tight Doors, for Marine Use
ABSTRACT
This specification covers the principal design and type of material for manufacturing fittings for watertight/gastight/airtight, weathertight, and non-tight doors, for marine use. The fittings are intended for use on all doors for marine use, except joiner and expanded metal doors. The dogs and hinges shall be classified as follows: Dog A and B; hinge A and B. All securing screws and fasteners shall be of stainless steel.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the principal design and type of material for manufacturing fittings for watertight/gastight/airtight, weathertight, and non-tight doors, for marine use. Note that “gastight” is commercial terminology which also means “airtight” in naval terminology.
1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.3 The fittings are intended for use on all doors for marine use, except joiner and expanded metal doors.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
