This International Standard specifies terms and definitions relating to dredgers, with the aim of giving clear
enough definitions for every term for them to be understood by all specialists.
It applies only to equipment which is used for the creation and maintenance of navigable waterways and the
extraction of soil.
The terms specified in this International Standard are intended to be used in documentation of all kinds.
Use of synonyms for the standardized terms, which are generally not included in this
Standard, is not recommended. Certain standardized terms are also given with
their abridged version: these may be used in cases where no possibility of
misinterpretation can arise.
Combination of terms are allowed in application.
In cases when a definition contains a term defined elsewhere in the Standard,
the corresponding item number follows in brackets.

Diese Internationale Norm legt Begriffe (Benennungen und Definitionen) für Schwimmbagger fest. Ziel ist es, allen
Experten dieses Bereichs verständliche Begriffszuordnungen zu geben, die die allgemeine Anwendung erleichtern.
Die Begriffe gelten nur für Schwimmbagger und deren Ausrüstung, die als schwimmende Geräte für die Herstellung
und Erhaltung von schiffbaren Gewässern und zur Gewinnung von Boden eingesetzt werden.
Die in dieser Internationalen Norm festgelegten Begriffe sollen in Dokumentationen aller Art angewendet werden.
Der Gebrauch von sinnverwandten Begriffen anstelle der genormten, die in dieser Norm nicht enthalten sind, wird
nicht empfohlen. Bestimmte Begriffe werden auch in abgekürzter Form wiedergegeben. Diese dürfen dann
benutzt werden, wenn die Möglichkeit einer Fehlinterpretation ausgeschlossen werden kann.
Kombinationen von Begriffen sind zulässig.
In Fällen, in denen eine Definition einen Begriff enthält, der an anderer Stelle dieser Norm definiert wird, folgt die ent-
sprechende Abschnitts-Nummer in Klammern.

La présente Norme internationale définit les termes relatifs aux dragues, dans le but de donner des définitions suffisam-
ment nettes pour que chaque terme puisse être compris par tous les spécialistes.
Elle n'est applicable qu'aux équipements utilisés pour la création et l'entretien des voies navigables.
Les termes définis dans la présente Norme internationale sont prévus pour des documents de tous types. L'emploi de
synomymes d'un terme normalisé, qui ne sont pas inclus dans la présente Norme internationale, est à éviter.
Certains termes normalisés sont aussi donnés avec leurs formes abrégées, qui peuvent être utilisées dans les cas où
aucune confusion n'est possible.
Il est admis d'employer des combinaisons de termes pour des raisons pratiques.
Dans les cas où une définition contient un terme défini par ailleurs dans la norme, le numéro du paragraphe corre-
spondant est indiqué entre parenthèses à la suite du terme.
