Reaction to fire tests for building products - Determination of a building product's propensity to undergo continuous smouldering

This European Standard specifies a test method to determine the propensity (ability) of a building product to smoulder continuously when exposed to an open flame under the influence of natural convective airflow.
It is intended for all building products classified according to EN 13501 1. Details as to how the products is mounted and fixed for this test are given in the relevant product standards. The field of application of the test results is defined in the product standards.

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Neigung (Fähigkeit) eines Bauprodukts fest, kontinuierlich zu schwelen, wenn es unter dem Einfluss eines natürlichen Konvektionsluftstroms einer offenen Flamme ausgesetzt ist.
Die Norm gilt für alle Bauprodukte, die nach EN 13501 1 klassifiziert werden. Einzelheiten dazu, wie die Bauprodukte für diese Prüfung montiert und angebracht werden, werden in der jeweiligen Produktnorm angegeben. Der Anwendungsbereich der Prüfergebnisse ist in der Produktnorm festgelegt.

La présente norme spécifie une méthode d’essai permettant de déterminer la capacité d’un produit de construction à subir un feu couvant continu lorsqu’il est exposé à une flamme nue sous l’influence d’un flux d’air naturel par convection.
Elle est destinée à tous les produits de construction classés selon l’EN 13501-1. Les détails relatifs au montage des produits et à leur fixation pour cet essai sont fournis dans la norme de produit pertinente. Le domaine d’application des résultats d’essai doit être défini dans la norme de produit.

Ta standard določa preskusno metodo za ugotavljanje dovzetnosti gradbenih proizvodov za neprekinjeno tlenje, ko so izpostavljeni odprtim plamenom pod vplivom naravnega konvekcijskega pretoka zraka. Namenjen je za vse gradbene proizvode, klasificirane v skladu s standardom EN 13501-1. Podrobnosti o načinu namestitve in pritrditve proizvodov za ta preskus so podane v ustreznem standardu za proizvod. Področje uporabe rezultatov preskusa mora biti opredeljeno v standardu za proizvod.

Overview

EN 16733:2016 is a CEN European Standard that specifies a laboratory test method to determine a building product’s propensity to undergo continuous smouldering (smoldering) when exposed to an open flame under natural convective airflow. The method is intended for all building products covered by classification under EN 13501‑1 and is used to provide data that product standards can reference for field of application and performance declaration.

• Output: Temperature-time data, observations of smouldering or sustained flaming, and a test report suitable for product standard use and classification.
