Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Durchführung von wurzelseitigen, oberseitigen Quer- und Seitenbiegeprüfungen an Probestücken aus Stumpfnähten, Stumpfnähten mit Plattierung (unterteilt in Schweißungen in Plattierungsblechen und in Plattierungsschweißnähten) und Plattierung ohne Stumpfnähte fest, um die Verformbarkeit und/oder das Fehlen von Unregelmäßigkeiten an oder nahe der Oberfläche des Probestücks zu beurteilen. Sie gibt ebenso die Maße des Probestücks an.
Darüber hinaus legt diese Internationale Norm ein Verfahren zur Durchführung von wurzelseitigen und oberseitigen Längsbiegeprüfungen fest, die an Stelle der Querbiegeprüfungen für heterogene Komponenten eingesetzt werden, wenn Grundwerkstoffe und/oder Schweißzusatz deutliche Unterschiede in ihre physikalischen und mechanischen Eigenschaften hinsichtlich der Biegung besitzen.
Diese Internationale Norm gilt für Metallwerkstoffe jeglicher Produktform mit Schweißverbindungen, die mit jeder Art von Schweißverfahren erzeugt werden.
