In diesem Teil von ISO 4589 werden Verfahren zur Bestimmung der minimalen Sauerstoffkonzentration in Gemischen mit Stickstoff, die die Verbrennung senkrecht angeordneter kleiner Probekörper unter festgelegten Prüfbedingungen unterstützen, festlegt. Die Ergebnisse sind als Sauerstoff-Index-Werte festgelegt.
