1.1 This standard covers pedestrian propelled platform trucks with a rated capacity up to 1000 kg, here after referred to as "trucks". Special applications case for rated capacities above 1000 kg. 1.1   Diese Norm findet Anwendung auf Mitgänger-Plattformwagen nach 3.1 mit einer Tragfähigkeit von bis zu 1 000 kg, nachfolgend als "Plattformwagen" bezeichnet, welche für den allgemeinen Gebrauch konstruiert wurden.
1.2   Diese Norm findet keine Anwendung auf
   Einkaufswagen entsprechend der Norm EN 1929, Teile 1 bis 6 (CEN/TC 291);
   Rollbehälter entsprechend der Norm EN 12674, Teile 1 bis 4 (CEN/TC 261);
   Wagen, die durch motorisierte Fahrzeuge gezogen werden können.
1.3   Diese Norm behandelt die technischen Anforderungen, um die in Abschnitt 4 aufgeführten Gefährdungen zu minimieren, die während der in Übereinstimmung mit den Vorgaben des Herstellers durchgeführten Inbetriebnahme, des Betriebes und der Instandhaltung von Plattformwagen entstehen können.
1.4   Diese Norm legt keine zusätzlichen Anforderungen fest für:
   den Betrieb unter erschwerten Bedingungen (z. B. Umgebungsbedingungen wie Kühlhausbetrieb, hohe Temperaturen, korrosive Umgebung):
   den Betrieb unter bestimmten Regeln (z. B. mögliche explosionsfähige Atmosphäre);
   die Handhabung von Lasten, deren Eigenschaften zu gefährlichen Situationen führen können (z. B. feuerflüssige Massen, Säuren/Basen, radioaktive Materialien, besonders brüchige Lasten);
   Gefährdungen, die während der Produktion, des Transportes, der Außerbetriebnahme und der Verschrottung auftreten;
   Plattformwagen, die in direktem Kontakt mit Lebensmitteln stehen;
   die Verwendung auf Neigungen oder auf anderen als glatten, ebenen und festen Untergründen;
   Plattformwagen für besondere Anwendungen: Krankenhäuser, Restaurants, Speisewagen;
   Plattformwagen mit Pendel- oder Schiebetüren.
1.5   Weitere mögliche Begrenzungen des Anwendungsbereiches anderer Normen, auf die in dieser Norm Bezug genommen wird, müssen auch berücksichtigt werden.
1.6   Gefährdungen durch Lärm, Vibration, Sichtverhältnisse und statischer Elektrizität sind nicht Bestandteil dieser Norm.
