This standard specifies requirements for design, manufacture and testing of safety devices to prevent over-pressurization. It does not specify where such safety devices are required, or the sizing of devices.

Dieses Dokument legt Anforderungen für die Konstruktion, Herstellung und die Prüfung von Berstscheibenein-
richtungen zur Druckentlastung (im Folgenden Berstscheibeneinrichtungen genannt) für Gas-flaschen fest. Dieses
Dokument fordert, dass die Berstscheibeneinrichtungen der EN ISO 4126-2 entsprechen. Im Streitfall gelten die
Anforderungen in dieser Norm vorrangig.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Acetylenflaschen, und sie beschränkt sich auf Berstscheibeneinrichtungen für
Gasflaschen zur Anwendung in besonderen Fällen.
ANMERKUNG Dieses Dokument sieht keine Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Ausflusses von Berstscheibeneinrichtungen für
eine bestimmten Gasflasche vor.
Dieses Dokument enthält keine Angaben darüber, wann eine Berstscheibeneinrichtung eingebaut werden darf und
auf welchen Druck sie eingestellt wird, siehe EN 13096.

Le présent document spécifie les exigences relatives à la conception, à la fabrication et aux essais des dispositifs
limiteurs de pression à disque de rupture utilisés avec les bouteilles à gaz. Le présent document exige que les
dispositifs limiteurs de pression à disque de rupture soient conformes à l�EN ISO 4126-2. En cas de conflit, ce sont
les exigences du présent document qui prévalent.
Le présent document ne s�applique pas aux bouteilles à gaz pour acétylène et ne traite que des dispositifs limiteurs
de pression à disque de rupture utilisés avec les bouteilles à gaz dans certaines applications spécifiques.

Overview

EN 14513:2005 specifies requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of bursting disc pressure relief devices used on transportable gas cylinders. The standard is applicable to a range of gas cylinder applications but explicitly excludes acetylene cylinders. It requires conformity with EN ISO 4126-2 and provides additional, cylinder-specific provisions where this document takes precedence.

This standard does not determine when a bursting disc device shall be fitted or how to size a device; those aspects are addressed in related documents (for example EN 13096).

• Cleanliness, marking and packaging:
  • Parts must be cleaned for intended service (EN 12300 as guidance).
  • Tamper-evident seals and marking of the document number and burst pressure are required on the disc or holder.
  • Packaging must include manufacturer, model, size, material and batch identity.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by September 2005, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the
latest by September 2005.

1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements for the design, manufacture and testing for bursting disc pressure relief
devices for use with gas cylinders. It is a requirement of this document that the bursting disc pressure relief devices
conform to EN ISO 4126-2. In the event of a conflict, the requirements of this document take precedence over that
standard.
This document does not apply to acetylene gas cylinders and is restricted to bursting disc pressure relief devices
for gas cylinders used in some specific applications.
NOTE This document does not provide methods for determining the capacity of a bursting disc pressure relief device for a
particular gas cylinder.
This document will not indicate when a bursting disc pressure relief device shall be fitted and at which pressure it
will be set, see EN 13096.
