The aim of this European standard is to define the range of the capacities of the cans defined by their nominal gross-lidded capacities, their metal thickness not exceeding 0.49 mm. It is based upon ISO 10653:1993. Recommended diameters related to this range of capacities are shown in the Annex A (informative) to this standard. The diameters quoted are as defined in EN 20090/1. Light gauge open-top metal containers for liquid products with added gas defined by their nominal filling volumes are the subject of another European standard.

Zweck dieser europäischer Norm ist die Festlegung der Nennbehältnisvolumen von Dosen mit einer Blechdicke bis zu 0,49 mm. Bezugsnorm ist ISO 10653:1993. Der Anhang A (informativ) dieser Norm enthält die zu den Volumen zugeordneten empfohlenen Durchmesser. Die Durchmesser sind in EN 20090/1 definiert. Falzdeckeldosen für kohlensäurehaltige Getränke werden in einer anderen Europäischen Norm standardisiert.

Le but de cette norme européenne est d'établir la liste des capacités des boîtes définies par leurs capacités nominales totales dont l'épaisseur de métal n'excède pas 0,49 mm. Elle est basée sur la norme ISO 10653:1993. Les diamètres recommandés se rapportant à cette liste de capacités sont indiqués dans une Annexe A (informative). Les diamètres indiqués sont ceux définis par la norme EN 20090/1. Les boîtes rondes serties pour produits liquides avec addition de gaz définies par leur volumes nominaux de remplissage font l'objet d'une autre norme européenne.
