Wallcoverings - Vocabulary and symbols
This European Standard defines terms of interest to the users of wallcoverings that are supplied in roll form for hanging on to walls and ceilings by means of an adhesive. Cork panels are also included in the scope of this standard.
This standard also provides the necessary definitions and symbols for the purposes of other European Standards for wallcoverings (see references in clause 2).
Table 1 gives the symbols to be used.
Wandbekleidungen - Begriffe und Symbole
Diese Europäische Norm definiert Begriffe, die für die Verwender von Wandbekleidungen wichtig sind; die Wandbekleidungen werden in Form von Rollen geliefert und an Wänden und Decken mit einem Klebstoff angebracht. Korkplatten sind auch im Anwendungsbereich der Norm beinhaltet.
Diese Norm enthält auch die notwendigen Definitionen und Piktogramme für die Anwendung in anderen Europäi-schen Normen über Wandbekleidungen (siehe Verweisungen in Abschnitt 2).
Tabelle 1 enthält die zu verwendenden Piktogramme.

La présente Norme européenne définit les termes présentant un intérêt pour les utilisateurs de revêtements muraux vendus en rouleaux, destinés à être posés sur les murs et les plafonds à l'aide d'un adhésif. Les panneaux en liège sont également inclus dans le domaine d'application de la présente norme.
La présente norme donne également les définitions et symboles nécessaires pour les autres normes européennes relatives aux revêtements muraux (voir les références dans l'article 2).
Le Tableau 1 indique les symboles à utiliser.

Foreword
This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 99
"Wallcoverings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2002, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by June 2002.
This European Standard supersedes EN 235:1989.
This revision includes new terms adopted for cork wallcoverings and updates all references to
the revised specifications and methods of test for wallcoverings.
Annex A is informative.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium,
