This European Standard specifies a method for determining the creep deformation of bonded specimens loaded in bending shear. It is applicable to adhesives used in load bearing timber structures.
It is suitable for the following applications:
a)   for assessing the compliance of adhesives to EN 15425 and EN 16254;
b)   for assessing the suitability and quality of adhesives for load bearing timber structures.
This test is intended primarily to obtain performance data for the classification of adhesives for load bearing timber structures according to their suitability for use in defined climatic environments.
This method is not intended to provide data for structural design, and does not necessarily represent the performance of the bonded member in service.

Klebstoffe für tragende Holzbauteile ausgenommen Phenolharzklebstoffe und Aminoplaste - Prüfverfahren - Teil 3: Prüfung der Kriechverformung unter zyklischen Klimabedingungen an Prüfkörpern bei Biege-Scherbeanspruchung

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Kriechverformung an verklebten Prüfkörpern bei Biege-Scherbeanspruchung fest. Sie gilt für Klebstoffe, die für tragende Holzbauteile verwendet werden.
Das Verfahren ist für folgende Anwendungsfälle geeignet:
a)   zur Beurteilung der Übereinstimmung von Klebstoffen mit EN 15425 und EN 16254;
b)   zur Beurteilung der Eignung und Qualität von Klebstoffen für tragende Holzbauteile.
Diese Prüfung ist hauptsächlich dafür vorgesehen, Leistungsdaten für die Klassifizierung von Klebstoffen für tragende Holzbauteile entsprechend ihrer Eignung zur Verwendung in festgelegten klimatischen Umgebungen zu erhalten.
Dieses Verfahren ist nicht dafür vorgesehen, Bemessungswerte bereitzustellen und gibt nicht zwangsläufig die Leistungsfähigkeit des verklebten Bauteils im Gebrauch wieder.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie une méthode permettant de déterminer la déformation par fluage d’éprouvettes collées chargées en cisaillement par flexion. Elle s’applique aux adhésifs utilisés dans des structures portantes en bois.
Elle est adaptée :
a)   pour évaluer la conformité des adhésifs à l’EN 15425 et à l'EN 16254 ;
b)   pour évaluer l’aptitude à l’utilisation et la qualité des adhésifs pour les structures portantes en bois.
Cet essai est principalement destiné à recueillir des données de performance pour classer les adhésifs destinés aux structures portantes en bois en fonction de leur aptitude à l’utilisation dans des environnements climatiques définis.
Cette méthode n’est pas destinée à fournir des données pour la conception structurelle et elle ne reflète pas nécessairement la performance de l’élément collé en service.

Ta evropski standard določa metodo za ugotavljanje deformacije lezenja zlepljenih preskušancev pod upogibno strižno obremenitvijo. Uporablja se za lepila za nosilne lesene konstrukcije.
Metoda se uporablja:
a) za oceno skladnosti lepil s standardoma EN 15425 in EN 16254;
b) za oceno ustreznosti in kakovosti lepil za nosilne lesene konstrukcije.
Ta preskus je namenjen zlasti za pridobivanje podatkov o lastnostih za razvrstitev lepil za nosilne lesene konstrukcije glede na njihovo ustreznost za uporabo v opredeljenih podnebnih okoljih.
Ta metoda ni namenjena za zagotavljanje podatkov za konstrukcijsko zasnovo, pri čemer ne predstavlja nujno lastnosti zlepljenega elementa v uporabi.

This document (EN 15416-3:2017+A1:2019) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 193

“Adhesives”, the secretariat of which is held by AENOR.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an

identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2019, and conflicting national standards

shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2019.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of

Compared to EN 15416-3:2007+A1:2010, the following main modifications have been made:

a) reference to EN 16254 for EPI adhesives added in the scope;
b) glue line thickness to be used will be taken from EN 15425 or EN 16254;
c) alternative way of making the test pieces is given in 6.2 and 6.3;

d) possibility to use other climatic conditions as given in 7.1, Table 1 has been deleted;

e) loads have been given a tolerance of ± 50 N in 7.1;
f) duration times can be found in EN 15425 or in EN 16254;
g) measurement of the glue line thickness in the test piece has been introduced.

This document is one of a series dealing with adhesives for use with timber structures, and is published

in support of product standards for bonded load-bearing timber structures.

The series consists of three classification and performance requirements for adhesives for load-bearing

timber structures, phenolic and aminoplastic adhesives (EN 301), one component polyurethane

adhesives (EN 15425) and emulsion polymerized isocyanate adhesives (EN 16254), together with 12

test methods (EN 302 Parts 1 to 8 and EN 15416 Parts 1 and 3 to 5).
