Non-destructive testing - Penetrant testing - Vocabulary (ISO 12706:2009)

ISO 12706:2009 defines technical terms relating to penetrant testing.
In addition to terms used in English and French, two of the three official ISO languages, ISO 12706:2009 gives the equivalent terms in German; these are published under the responsibility of the member body for Germany (DIN), and are given for information only. Only the terms and definitions given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms and definitions.

L'ISO 12706:2009 définit les termes techniques relatifs au contrôle par ressuage.
En complément des termes utilisés anglais et français, deux des trois langues officielles de l'ISO (anglais, français et russe), l'ISO 12706:2009 donne les termes équivalents en allemand; ces termes sont publiés sous la responsabilité du comité membre de l'Allemagne (DIN), et sont donnés uniquement pour information. Foreword
This document (EN ISO 12706:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 138 "Non-
destructive testing", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR, in collaboration with Technical Committee
ISO/TC 135 "Non-destructive testing".
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by June 2010.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 12706:2000.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following
