Fireworks - Part 28: Roman candles - Specification and test methods
This document specifies requirements for the construction, performance, primary packaging and labelling of Roman candles and the corresponding test methods. It is applicable to fireworks which are classified as Roman candles in categories 2 and 3 in EN 14035-2.
It is not applicable to Roman candles containing pyrotechnic composition which includes any of the following substances:
- arsenic or arsenic compounds;
- mixtures containing a mass fraction of chlorates greater than 80 %;
- mixtures of chlorates with metals;
- mixtures of chlorates with red phosphorus;
- mixtures of chlorates with potassium hexacyanoferrate(II);
- mixtures of chlorates with sulfur;
- mixtures of chlorates with sulfides;
- lead or lead compounds;
- mercury compounds;
- white phosphorus;
- picrates or picric acid;
- potassium chlorate with a mass fraction of bromates greater than 0,15 %;
- sulfur with an acidity, expressed in mass fraction of sulphuric acid, greater than 0,002 %;
- zirconium with a particle size of less than 40 mm.
NOTE In EN 14035-2, Roman candles are classified as follows:
- Brief description: tube containing alternate propellant charges, pyrotechnic units and transmitting fuse(s).
- Principal effects: ejection of pyrotechnic units in succession, producing a series of visual and/or aural effects, in the air.
Schemes for type testing of Roman candles and batch testing of Roman candles are specified in annex A and annex B respectively.
Feuerwerkskörper - Römische Lichter - Teil 28: Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren
Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an die Konstruktion, Funktion, kleinste Verpackungseinheit und Beschriftung von Römischen Lichtern und die entsprechenden Prüfverfahren fest. Sie gilt für Feuerwerks-körper, die als Römische Lichter in die Kategorien 2 und 3 in der EN 14035-2 eingruppiert sind.
Sie gilt nicht für Römische Lichter, die pyrotechnischen Satz enthalten, in dem eine der nachfolgend aufgeführten Substanzen enthalten ist:
- Arsen und Arsenverbindungen,
- Blei und Bleiverbindungen,
- Kaliumchlorat mit einem Massenanteil an Bromaten von mehr als 0,15 %,
- Mischungen mit einem Massenanteil an Chloraten von mehr als 80 %,
- Mischungen von Chloraten mit Metallen,
- Mischungen von Chloraten mit rotem Phosphor,
- Mischungen von Chloraten mit Kaliumhexacyanoferrat(II),
- Mischungen von Chloraten mit Schwefel,
- Mischungen von Chloraten mit Sulfiden,
- Pikrate und Pikrinsäure,
- Quecksilberverbindungen,
- weißer Phosphor,
- Schwefel mit einem Massenanteil an freier Säure (angegeben als H2SO4) von mehr als 0,002 %,
- Zirkon mit einer Korngröße von weniger als 40 µm.
ANMERKUNG In EN 14035-2 sind Römische Lichter wie folgt klassifiziert:
- Kurzbeschreibung: Rohr, das abwechselnd Treibladungen, pyrotechnische Bauteile und Überzündung(en) enthält;
- Hauptwirkung: Aufeinander folgender Ausstoß der pyrotechnischen Bauteile die in der Luft eine Serie von optischen und/oder akustischen Wirkungen erzeugen.
Übersichten für die Typ-Prüfung von Römischen Lichtern und die Los-Prüfung Römischen Lichtern sind in Anhang A beziehungsweise Anhang B angegeben.

Le présent document spécifie les exigences relatives à la construction, aux performances, au conditionnement primaire et à l'étiquetage des chandelles romaines, ainsi que les méthodes d'essai correspondantes. Elle s'applique aux artifices de divertissement classés comme chandelles romaines de catégories 2 et 3 dans l'EN 14035-2.
Elle ne s'applique pas aux chandelles romaines dont la composition pyrotechnique comprend l'une des substances suivantes :
¾ arsenic ou composés d'arsenic ;
¾ mélanges contenant une fraction en masse de chlorates supérieure à 80 % ;
¾ mélanges de chlorates et de métaux ;
¾ mélanges de chlorates et de phosphore rouge ;
¾ mélanges de chlorates et d'hexacyanoferrate (II) de potassium ;
¾ mélanges de chlorates et de soufre ;
¾ mélanges de chlorates et de sulfures ;
¾ plomb ou composés de plomb ;
¾ composés de mercure ;
¾ phosphore blanc ;
¾ picrates ou acide picrique ;
¾ chlorate de potassium contenant une fraction en masse de bromates supérieure à 0,15 % ;
¾ soufre présentant une acidité, exprimée en fraction en masse d'acide sulfurique supérieure à 0,002 %;
¾ zirconium ayant une taille de particule inférieure à 40 mm.
NOTE Dans l'EN 14035-2, les chandelles romaines sont classées comme suit :
¾ description abrégée : Tube contenant des charges propulsives, des composants élémentaires et un (des) relais pyrotechnique(s) ;
¾ effets principaux : Éjection des composants élémentaires, produisant une série d'effets visuels et/ou sonores dans l'air.
Les schémas d'ssais de type et d'essais de lot des chandelles romaines sont respectivement spécifiés aux Annexes A et B.
