Radiation protection instrumentation - Installed radiation monitors for the detection of radioactive and special nuclear materials at national borders

Defines the performance of installed monitors used for the detection of gamma and neutron radiation emitters contained in objects/ containers or vehicles, general characteristics, mechanical characteristics, environmental requirements, test procedures and documentation. Such monitors are used to monitor vehicles, cargo containers, people, or packages and are typically located at national and international borders, but may be used at any location where there is a need for this type of monitoring.

Namen tega mednarodnega standarda je opredeliti delovanje vgrajenih monitorjev, ki se uporabljajo za odkrivanje materialov, ki oddajajo sevanje gama in nevtronsko sevanje in se nahajajo v predmetih/zabojnikih ali vozilih, splošne značilnosti, mehanske značilnosti, okoljske zahteve, preskusne postopke in dokumentacijo. Ta standard velja za vgrajene monitorje, namenjene odkrivanju posebnih jedrskih in drugih radioaktivnih materialov, ki oddajajo sevanje gama in/ali nevtronsko sevanje. Ta standard ne zagotavlja podatkov, potrebnih za ugotavljanje učinkovitosti monitorja pri merjenju količine radioaktivnega materiala. V tem standardu izraz radioaktivni material vključuje posebni jedrski in radioaktivni material, razen če ni posebej navedeno drugače. The text of the International Standard IEC 62244:2006, prepared by SC 45B, “Radiation protection
instrumentation”, of IEC TC 45, “Nuclear instrumentation”, together with the common modifications prepared
by the Technical Committee CENELEC TC 45B, Radiation protection instrumentation, was submitted to the
CENELEC formal vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 62244 on 2011-06-27.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN and CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2012-06-27
