Industrial process control systems - Guideline for evaluating process control systems - Part 1: Specifications
IEC TS 62603-1:2014 describes methods and provides guidance for the evaluation of Process Control Systems (PCS) during the phase of selection between different proposals. The methods of evaluation proposed in this technical specification are intended for use mainly by users, engineering companies, or independent test laboratories, to verify manufacturers' proposals during the tender (as described in IEC 62603-1) or the provided Process Control System during the FAT procedure.

Ta mednarodna tehnična specifikacija opisuje metode in vodila za ocenjevanje sistemov za upravljanje procesov (PCS) med fazo izbire med različnimi predlogi.
Metode ocenjevanja, ki so predlagane v tej tehnični specifikaciji, so namenjene predvsem za uporabo s strani uporabnikov, inženirskih podjetij ali neodvisnih preskusnih laboratorijev za preverjanje proizvajalčevih predlogov med razpisom (kot je opisano v standardu IEC 62603-1) ali zagotovljenim sistemom za upravljanje procesa med postopkom FAT.
Postopki specifikacije in preskušanja, določeni v tej tehnični specifikaciji, veljajo za velik nabor sistemov za avtomatizacijo in temeljijo na konvencionalni tehnologiji (npr. terenske naprave od 4 mA do 20 Ma) ter inteligentnih terenskih napravah (IFD) s serijsko komunikacijo katere koli vrste. Zato preskusi, opredeljeni v tej tehnični specifikaciji, niso nujno zadostni za sisteme za avtomatizacijo, ki so zasnovani za posebne naloge. V takih primerih bi morala uporabnik in proizvajalec opredeliti dodatne preskuse za ocenjevanje posebnih funkcij ali zmogljivosti.
Postopek za določanje tehničnih zahtev sistemov za upravljanje procesov, ocenjevanje drugačnih ponudb in izvajanje preskusov na izbranih sistemih za upravljanje procesov se razlikuje med podjetji in projekti, vendar obstaja nekaj skupnih korakov, kot kaže slika 1. V okviru standarda IEC 62603 je ta postopek razdeljen v dva koraka: definicijo tehničnih zahtev sistemov za upravljanje procesov (v okviru standarda IEC 62603-1) in preskuse izbranih sistemov za upravljanje procesov.
