Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

After 5.7, add the following subclause:
5.8 Adequacy of expansion of Type 1 and Type 2 materials
When tested in accordance with 7.6, the diameter of the cast discs shall be, with respect to the diameter
of the pattern from which they were made:
a) no smaller than 99,5 % in the case of Type 1 casting investments materials (i.e. those for the
manufacture of inlays, crowns and other fixed restorations);
b) no smaller than 99,0 % in the case of Type 2 casting investment materials (i.e. those for the
manufacture of complete or partial dentures or other removable appliances).
NOTE   This requirement ensures that one dimension of a casting made according to the manufacturer's
instructions is no smaller than a specified proportion of the same dimension on the pattern used to produce the
casting. This dimension is the direction of maximum constraint to expansion.

5.8 Adéquation de l'expansion des produits de Types 1 et 2
Lors de l'essai conformément à 7.6, le diamètre des disques coulés doit être, par rapport au diamètre du
modèle à partir duquel ils ont été fabriqués:
a) supérieur ou égal à 99,5 % dans le cas de revêtements pour coulée de Type 1 (c'est-à-dire ceux destinés
à la fabrication d'inlays, couronnes et autres restaurations fixes);
b) supérieur ou égal à 99,0 % dans le cas de revêtements pour coulée de Type 2 (c'est-à-dire ceux destinés
à la fabrication de prothèses dentaires complètes ou partielles ou d'autres appareillages amovibles).
NOTE Cette exigence donne l'assurance qu'une dimension d'une coulée réalisée conformément aux instructions du
fabricant n'est pas plus petite qu'un pourcentage fixe de la même dimension sur le modèle utilisé pour fabriquer la coulée.
Cette dimension correspond à la direction de contrainte maximale jusqu'à l'expansion.
