SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 is the Slovenian adoption of the CEN amendment EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026. It concerns safety of machinery and the design and selection of interlocking devices associated with guards. The document is used by machinery designers, safety engineers, integrators and compliance teams who need to align guard interlocking arrangements with European machinery requirements.

What does SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 specify?

SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 is an amendment to EN ISO 14119:2025. It provides the European foreword and Annex ZA, which explain how the standard relates to Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery and which referenced standards support its application.

The document is organized into:

  • European foreword
  • Annex ZA (informative) - relationship between the European Standard and the essential requirements of 2006/42/EC aimed to be covered

Annex ZA is the practical link between the standard and EU machinery legislation. For users, that means the amendment is mainly about status, legal relationship and referenced standards rather than a new technical method.

What are the key requirements of SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026?

SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 does not add a new technical design chapter in the parts shown here; its key points are in the European foreword and Annex ZA.

  • It is an amendment to EN ISO 14119:2025.
The standard should be read as a modification of the base European Standard. In practice, users must apply the amended European version, not the earlier unamended one.

  • National implementation is required by the stated CEN timetable.
The European foreword says the amendment has to become a national standard by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, and conflicting national standards are to be withdrawn by the same deadline. This matters to standards managers tracking which national edition is current.

  • Annex ZA links the standard to Directive 2006/42/EC.
Annex ZA explains the relationship between the standard and the essential requirements of the Machinery Directive. In practice, this is the section that matters when the document is used for conformity work.

  • Table ZA.1 maps clauses 5 to 10 and Annex K to essential requirements.
The table shows which parts of the European Standard correspond to specific requirements of Directive 2006/42/EC. Users need this mapping when checking whether a design approach supports the relevant legal requirements.

  • Compliance with the normative clauses in the mapped scope can support presumption of conformity.
Annex ZA states that, once the standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under the Directive, applying the normative clauses listed in Table ZA.1 can give presumption of conformity within the scope of the standard. In practice, this is the legal value many manufacturers look for when preparing a machinery file.

  • Table ZA.2 identifies the normative references that are indispensable for application.
The annex says the listed standards are required for use of this document and that the editions shown there are the ones to apply. This matters because the safety method depends on using the correct companion standards.

  • Other Union legislation may still apply.
The warning in Annex ZA reminds users that the Machinery Directive relationship does not automatically cover every legal requirement for a product. Buyers and manufacturers still need to check the wider regulatory picture.

What terms does SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 define?

  • Interlocking devices associated with guards - Devices that work with guards to control machine access and machine operation.
  • Annex ZA - The informative annex that explains the relationship between the standard and Directive 2006/42/EC.
  • Essential requirements - The legal safety and health requirements from the Machinery Directive that the standard is intended to help address.
  • Presumption of conformity - The compliance benefit that can arise when the relevant normative clauses are applied after the standard is cited in the Official Journal.
  • CEN - The European Committee for Standardization, which approved the amendment.
  • EFTA - The European Free Trade Association, mentioned in the annex as part of the regulatory relationship.
  • PDDB - Proximity devices with defined behaviour under fault conditions, a device category named in the normative references.

Who uses SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026?

SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 is used by machinery manufacturers, guard and control-system designers, and machine integrators who select interlocking devices for safety functions. It is also relevant to conformity assessment staff, quality and compliance managers, and standards specialists who need to link a machine design to the Machinery Directive. Buyers and technical reviewers use it to check whether a machine’s guard interlocking approach follows the European safety standard.

What changed in SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 from the previous edition?

SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 is Amendment A11 to EN ISO 14119:2025. It modifies the European Standard and adds the European foreword and Annex ZA material for the EU machinery relationship.

Which standards are used with SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026?

The document’s Annex ZA lists these normative references as indispensable for application:

ReferenceWhat it contributes
ISO 12100:2010General principles for design, risk assessment and risk reduction
ISO 13849-1:2023Design of safety-related parts of control systems
ISO 13849-2:2012Validation of safety-related parts of control systems
ISO 13855:2024Positioning of safeguards with respect to approach speeds
ISO 14118:2017Prevention of unexpected start-up
IEC 60204-1:2016+A1:2021Electrical equipment of machines
IEC 60947-1:2020General rules for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear
IEC 60947-3Switches, disconnectors and switch-disconnector units
IEC 60947-5-1:2016+COR:2016Electromechanical control circuit devices
IEC 60947-5-3Proximity devices with defined behaviour under fault conditions
IEC 62061:2021Functional safety of safety-related control systems

What does the SIST EN ISO 14119:2025/A11:2026 document contain?

The document contains a European foreword and Annex ZA. Annex ZA includes the cross-reference table between Directive 2006/42/EC and the standard’s clauses, including clauses 5 to 10 and Annex K, and a second table listing the normative references and the editions to use. For readers working on design or conformity, those tables are the most practical parts because they show how the standard fits into machinery compliance work.
