Information technology equipment - Safety - Part 1: General requirements
This standard is applicable to mains-powered or battery-powered information technology equipment, including electrical business equipment and associated equipment, with a RATED VOLTAGE not exceeding 600 V. This standard is also applicable to such information technology equipment: - designed for use as telecommunication terminal equipment and TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK infrastructure equipment, regardless of the source of power; - designed and intended to be connected directly to, or used as infrastructure equipment in, a CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM, regardless of the source of power; - designed to use the AC MAINS SUPPLY as a communication transmission medium (see Clause 6, Note 4 and 7.1, Note 4). This standard is also applicable to components and subassemblies intended for incorporation in information technology equipment. It is not expected that such components and subassemblies comply with every aspect of the standard, provided that the complete information technology equipment, incorporating such components and subassemblies, does comply.

Ta standard velja za opremo za informacijsko tehnologijo z omrežnim napajanjem ali baterijskim napajanjem, vključno z električno poslovno opremo in z njo povezano opremo z OCENJEVALNO NAPETOSTJO, ki ne presega 600 V. Ta standard prav tako velja za takšne vrste opreme za informacijsko tehnologijo: - načrtovano za uporabo v telekomunikacijski opremi terminalov in opremi za telekomunikacijsko omrežno infrastrukturo, ne glede na vir napajanja; - načrtovano in namenjeno za neposredno povezavo ali uporabljeno kot infrastrukturno opremo v RAZDELITVENEM SISTEMU KABLOV, ne glede na vir napajanja; - načrtovano tako, da uporablja IZMENIČNO OMREŽNO NAPAJANJE kot medij za prenos informacij (glej točko 6, opomba 4 in 7.1, opomba 4). Ta standard prav tako velja za sestavne dele in podsklope, namenjene vključitvi v opremo za informacijsko tehnologijo. Ne pričakuje se, da so takšni sestavni deli in podsklopi v skladu z vsakim vidikom standarda, pod pogojem, da je celotna oprema za informacijsko tehnologijo, ki vsebuje takšne sestavne dele in podsklope, skladna.

This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN 60950-1:2006; it was approved by CENELEC on
2008-12-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.
CENELEC members are the national electrotechnical committees of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the
Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia,

Foreword
This amendment to the European Standard EN 60950-1:2006 was prepared by the Technical Committee
CENELEC TC 108X, Safety of electronic equipment within the fields of audio/video, information technology
and communication technology.
The text of the draft was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure and was approved by CENELEC as
amendment A11 to EN 60950-1:2006 on 2008-12-01.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the amendment has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical (dop) 2009-12-01
national standard or by endorsement
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the amendment have to be withdrawn (dow) 2010-12-01
