This European Standard specifies requirements for snow removal machines with rotating tools for winter application on traffic areas. It is valid for design and construction. It also includes the minimum requirement concerning contents of the operating instructions.
This European Standard applies to:
   snow blowers;
   snow cutters;
   snow cutter blowers;
and related products such as side blowers, side cutters, etc.
This European Standard does not apply for:
   requirements for registration and approval;
   vehicle manufacturer requirements;
   safety requirements.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an Schneeräummaschinen mit rotierenden Werkzeugen für den
Winterdienst auf Verkehrsflächen fest. Sie beinhaltet auch Anforderungen bezüglich Auslegung, Konstruktion
und Beschaffung sowie den Mindestinhalt der Betriebsanleitung.
Die Norm gilt für:
 Schneeschleudern;
 Schneefräsen;
 Schneefrässchleudern;
und deren Unterprodukte wie Seitenschneeschleudern, Seitenschneefräsen, usw..
Die Norm gilt nicht für:
 Anforderungen der Verkehrszulassung;
 Anforderungen der Fahrzeughersteller;
 Sicherheitsanforderungen.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences relatives aux machines de déneigement à outils
rotatifs utilisées en hiver dans les zones de circulation. Elle s’applique à la conception et à la construction. Elle
fournit également les exigences minimales concernant les informations devant figurer dans les instructions
d’utilisation.
La présente norme s’applique :
aux turbines à neige ;
aux fraises à neige ;
aux turbofraises ;
et aux produits associés tels que les turbines latérales, les fraises latérales, etc.
La présente norme ne s’applique pas :
aux exigences d’enregistrement et d’homologation ;
aux exigences concernant le fabricant du véhicule ;
aux exigences de sécurité.

EN 15906:2011 is a CEN European Standard for winter maintenance equipment covering snow removal machines with rotating tools. It specifies design, construction and minimum content for operating instructions for machines used on traffic areas. The standard applies to snow blowers, snow cutters, snow cutter‑blowers and related products (side blowers, side cutters, etc.). It does not cover vehicle registration/approval, vehicle‑manufacturer requirements or general safety requirements.

• Performance and quality of clearing: Requires even clearing pattern, smooth running, profile adjustment, targeted throw‑out control and efficient use of drive power.
• Protection and durability:
  • Overload protection against foreign objects (mechanical, hydraulic or other).
  • Easily replaceable wear parts (shear bolts, scraper blades).
  • Requirements for scraper blades: reliable fastening, easy replacement, high durability and no sharp splintering.
  • Corrosion protection, reliability, data logging and inspection provisions.
• Operational features:
  • Remote throw‑out control; raising height of at least 200 mm independent of carrier; lowering 100 mm under traffic area.
  • Transportation lock to prevent unintentional lowering and preserve driver visibility.
  • Compatibility with carrier vehicle communal hydraulics per EN 15431.
  • Requirements for maintenance access, spare parts list and operating manual content.
