ISO/TC 22/SC 32/WG 6 - On-board electrical connections

This document provides terminology and specifies test methods for general performance requirements of voltage class A connectors used in electrical wiring harnesses on road vehicles. This document applies to connectors which, after mounting in the vehicle, are designed to only be disconnected in connection with repair and maintenance. This document does not apply to internal connections for electronic devices. This document does not apply to signal communication quality or data integrity.

This document defines various parameters to be tested for the communication channel between two Ethernet devices (e.g. ECUs for automotive application) and also for the transmission media including cables and connectors as a single component of which the communication channel consists. This document also specifies the general RF requirements for a physical layer communication channel for ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3. These requirements are related to signal integrity of the communication channel. Test methods for electrical performances of the communication channel/link and cables and connectors are also specified in this document.

This document defines terms and specifies test methods and general performance requirements for single-pole and multi-pole connections used with on-board electrical wiring harnesses of road vehicles. This document is applicable to connectors designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle for repair and maintenance only. It does not cover one-part connections, i.e. where one part of the connection has direct contact to the pattern of the printed circuit board. This document is not applicable to internal connections of electronic devices.

This document specifies the performance criteria and requirements of a three-way connection interface, including ground connection, linking the pyrotechnic device and harness connector built into a road vehicle. Performance criteria and requirements are defined for a sealed variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly (see Annex A). Performance criteria and requirements are defined for a two-way (without ground) variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly (see Annex B). Performance criteria and requirements are defined for a variant without a retainer of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly is defined (see Annex C).

This document applies to connectors for voltage class B electric circuits of electric propulsion systems and conductively connected auxiliary electric systems of electrically propelled road vehicles. This document applies to voltage class B connectors designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle for repair and maintenance only. It does not apply to vehicle inlets of charging systems. This document applies to cable conductor sizes ranging from 1,5 mm2 to 120mm2. This document is not applicable to internal connections of electronic devices.

This document defines the general minimum specifications of a type 3 two-way connection interface, linking the pyrotechnic device and harness connector built into a road vehicle.

ISO 20860-2:2009 specifies the tests for male and female connectors of the 50 ohm impedance interface for radio frequency applications in road vehicles, and ensures communication to and within road vehicles. These tests apply to all coaxial connectors for road vehicles with a 50 ohm radio frequency interface in accordance with ISO 20860-1.

ISO 20860-1:2008 specifies male and female connectors of the 50 ohms impedance system interface for radio frequency applications in road vehicles, and ensures communication to and within road vehicles. It specifies dimensional and electrical requirements and characteristics required for interchange ability. This connection system can be applied in all relevant equipment and cable connections of road vehicles.

This part of ISO 15170 specifies tests and requirements for electrical connectors and connections with up to four poles and twist lock coupling. This type of connection is intended for electrical connections in truck, bus and trailer applications (e.g. for components directly mounted on the engine).

This International Standard specifies the dimensions and electrical characteristics of the double-pole connection required for the interchangeability of the electrical connections used to supply additional appliances in road vehicles with a nominal supply voltage of 12V or 24 V d.c.

This part of ISO 15170 specifies those items, principally dimensions and classes of application of electrical connectors with up to four pins and twist lock coupling, necessary for assuring the interchangeability of both parts of electrical connections according to ISO 15170. This type of connection is intended for electrical connections in truck, bus and trailer applications (e.g. for components directly mounted on the engine).

Specifies dimensions for the pins of single- and multi-pole connections and specific requirements, for on-board electrical wiring harnesses of road vehicles. Applies to connections designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle in the case of repair and/or maintenance only.

Gives dimensions for the tabs of multi-pole connections and specific requirements, for on-board electrical wiring harnesses of road vehicles. Does apply to connections designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle for the purposes of repair and/or maintenance only.

Contains performance requirements of multi-pole connectors for car radios in accordance with ISO 10487-1.

Applies to the multi-pole connector and the positions of antenna sockets. Specifies the contact allocation of the connector. The connector is both for permanent connection of the car radio to the vehicle harness and for extractable car radios.

ISO 19072-1:2014 defines the minimum specification of the pyrotechnic device pocket interface.

ISO 19072-2:2013 defines the performance criteria and requirements of a three-way connection interface, including ground connection, linking the pyrotechnic device and harness connector built into a road vehicle. Performance criteria and requirements are also defined for a sealed variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly. Performance criteria and requirements are also defined for a two-way (without ground) variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly.

ISO/TS 19072-4:2012 defines the general minimum specifications of a type 2 two-way connection interface, linking the pyrotechnic device and harness connector built into a road vehicle. A three-way with ground variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly is also defined.

ISO 8092:2005 defines terms and specifies test methods and general performance requirements for single-pole and multi-pole connections used with on-board electrical wiring harnesses of road vehicles. It is applicable to connectors designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle for repair and maintenance only. It does not cover one-part connections, i.e. where one part of the connection has direct contact to the pattern of the printed circuit board. ISO 8092:2005 is not applicable to internal connections of electronic devices.
