ISO/TC 177 - Caravans

Specifies certain functional requirements for the habitation aspects and certain safety requirements for: construction and design; internal equipment; water supply, storage and disposal (when provided); space heating; use in winter conditions; services; ventilation; fire precautions; warning notice; users' handbook.

Specifies requirements, with particular reference to safety, for: type of heater, fitting of heater, overheating, labels of heaters; fuel pipes; air intake; flues; electrical operating switch; user's handbook.

Annex A forms an integral part of this standard.

The infomative annex A contains the bibliography. It gives the terms and definitions in English and French and finally these terms are repeated in alphabetical indexes.

Specifies safety and functional requirements for 12 V installations and includes an annex that gives means of determining the minimum cross-sectional area of cables. Does not apply the commercial trailers or motor caravans, nor does it include requirements for ELV road lighting and signalling lamps and their installations.

Lays down requirements for installing heating systems with reference to sayfety. Applies to installations using oil fuels as defined in ISO 7418. Covers: oil thanks, installation of the system and heating appliances, fuel pipes, flues, fire valves, operating instructions, heat-generating appliances and equipment.
