This part of IEC 60384 is applicable to fixed surface mount capacitors for direct current, with
metallized electrodes and polyethylene naphthalate dielectric for use in electronic equipment.
These capacitors have metallized connecting pads or soldering strips and are intended to be
mounted directly onto printed boards or onto substrates for hybrid circuits. These capacitors
can have "self-healing properties" depending on conditions of use. They are primarily intended
for applications where the AC component is small with respect to the rated voltage.
This part of IEC 60384 specifies preferred ratings and characteristics, selects from
IEC 60384‑1:2021 the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring
methods and gives general performance requirements for this type of capacitor. Test severities
and requirements specified in detail specifications referring to this sectional specification are
of an equal or higher performance level. Lower performance levels are not permitted.
Capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppression are not included, but are covered by
IEC 60384‑14.

IEC TR 63362-1:2022(E) establishes guidelines for the application and use of aluminium electrolytic capacitors in electronic equipment.
The information given in this document applies to capacitors with non-solid electrolyte but can, in its appropriate clauses, apply to capacitors with solid electrolyte as well.
Electrolytic capacitors in general – and aluminium electrolytic capacitors in particular – are an exception in the capacitor field because of the components’ close interaction of physics and chemistry. Therefore, aluminium electrolytic capacitors show, in various aspects, a technical behaviour unaccustomed to the user. That could easily lead to misapplications and even to endangering of persons and goods. The aim of this document is to minimize these risks by providing detailed information on the specific peculiarities of the component.
This first edition cancels and replaces CLC/TR 50454 published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
Complete technical revision, details of cleaning processes and failure modes added.
Inclusion of parts of JEITA RCR 2367D.

IEC 60143-2:2012 covers protective equipment for series capacitor banks, with a size larger than 10 Mvar per phase. Protective equipment is defined as the main circuit apparatus and ancillary equipment, which are part of a series capacitor installation, but which are external to the capacitor part itself. The recommendations for the capacitor part are given in IEC 60143-1:2004. The protective equipment is mentioned in Clause 3 and 10.6 of IEC 60143-1:2004. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1994. It constitutes a technical revision. The main changes with respect to the previous edition are:
- updated with respect to new and revised component standards;
- updates with respect to technology changes. Outdated technologies have been removed, i.e. series capacitors with dual self-triggered gaps. New technologies have been added, i.e. current sensors instead of current transformers;
- the testing of spark gaps has been updated to more clearly specify requirements and testing procedures. A new bypass making current test replaces the old discharge current test;
- Clause 5, Guide, has been expanded with more information about different damping circuits and series capacitor protections. Keywords: protective equipment for series capacitor banks

Solid-liquid phase-change materials (PCM) are a favoured approach to spacecraft passive thermal control for incident orbital heat fluxes or when there are wide fluctuations in onboard equipment.
The PCM thermal control system consists of a container which is filled with a substance capable of undergoing a phase-change. When there is an the increase in surface temperature of spacecraft the PCM absorbs the excess heat by melting. If there is a temperature decrease, then the PCM can provide heat by solidifying.
Many types of PCM systems are used in spacecrafts for different types of thermal transfer control.
Characteristics and performance of phase control materials are described in this Part. Existing PCM systems are also described.
